Considering they just delisted final fantasy 5 and 6 for the new pixel versions, it makes me wonder if they will do this when final fantasy 7 remake comes to steam....

i really like this version and hope not. Also, square enix is famous for delisting their old versions of games when they make new versions. Like for example dragon quest xi on steam..they delisted old one and now sell the S one.

Well the pixel versions are basically intended as direct replacements of the game just better quality where the remake is technically a new type of game and not a direct replacement so it is very unlikely.

No, it's very unlikely they'll remove it. The directors said in interviews that they hope more people will play the original game because of Remake.

No the did not. But still, as i said above, square enix has a history of delisting their old game in forr their new game versions.

I would be more worried if they will ever get around to releasing the Remake on Steam, TBH. And if you own the game, can't you still download and play it even in the unlikely event that they would remove the original from the store? I can still play Duke Nukem 3D Megaton after all these years...

Yeah, you can still play games that are delisted if you already purchased them. It’s only newcomers that can no longer purchase and play the removed version.

This is true on every level- which is why I don't own Remake.

Absolutely no chance of that happening. FF7R is a narrative sequel to the original Compilation with time travel/alternate universe shenanigans. Even if it was a 1:1 narrative remake of the original, it still wouldn't replace it.
