General lighting issues after some patches

Hello!

I played ROTTR the last time in june and never started steam on my windows machine again since, until today.
I quickly noticed that something was off with the graphics, I fiddled around with the settings but It did not change anything. So I updated my graphics driver and reinstalled ROTTR itself. Still the same issues:

It just looks like every light source except the sun is disabled somehow, also the sun light doesnt correctly go trough half transparent textures (like the windows)

I am using Windows 8 with a recent NVidia card.
As I said, graphic drivers and the game are completely up to date and the PC had the exact same setup in june, from when the first screenshot is from.

Any ideas how to fix that?

Did you do a "clean" install of your graphics driver? If not, you're going to have to do a clean install. Also, make sure this is the driver you wanted. From what I've read in the forums (AMD myself) there was an Nvidia driver (maybe more than 1) that was bad for Rise. You'd have to read thru General Discussions for this information.
Since June, there's been at least 3 patches issued. Most likely it was either Patch No. 7, 8 or 9 that has produced this. You might try rolling back this version of Rise to the previous version. If you don't know how to do this & want to do this, let me know & I'll give you the instructions.
Although you might think you don't need to do this, would you please go ahead and verify your Rise game files? Open your Steam Library, right click Properties, click on Local Files tab.

Thanks for the tip with the clean install! I'll try it when I am at my windows machine again and see if it works. I already tried to verify the game files but steam said that everything is correct. If the clean install doesnt fix it ill come back to your idea with downgrading rise :)

That is a glitch that has been there since the release for me. BUT it only occurs for me when returning to the area after being there the first time in the story. I have told this to nixxes before but they have not fixed it yet.

This also happend in the tomb raider game from 2013 aswell in the forest area once returning there through fast traveling. It is like you said yourself, some lighting effects just seems to be turned off .
