Yes I'm aware where it is located, my question is why is it not working? Is it because Epic games save games are not compatible with steam? But that'd be ridiculous.

interesting. I moved the 391220 folder to try something which did not work.
game created a new 391220 folder which was empty.
I then deleted that new empty folder and move the original folder back.
now the game does not recognize any of my saves - says they are all corrupt.

which indicates the game stores save file information somewhere else besides
...\steam\userdata\[mySteamUserID]\391220\

At least the game recognized your save game lol. It's so frustrating I have to restart all over.
I'm going to play on epic games saves me from all this headache.. thank you for your reply!

recognized sort of. yes there is a save file but cannot read it - game now thinks it is corrupt.
same saves that worked 15 mins ago. same file size. same date time stamp.

lost all 24 of my saves. at least it is only a video game.

Besides "remote" folder there are other numbered files in the 391220 folder. Maybe they are also releveant for saves and deleting them could cause save incompatibility.
Just a theory though.

figured it out. shut down/exit steam.
restore the folder from backup.
restart steam then the game then all the save files work again.
even though the game is not running, you cannot restore the
backup files if steam is running.
