Tomb Raider & Epic Online Services 101
1) If you’ve never linked your Steam and Epic accounts, you can launch and play Tomb Raider games through Steam just as you always could.

2) If you have previously linked your Steam and Epic accounts, you will get a web browser prompt upon launching any of the three games, asking you to permit Epic access to your online game data.

3) If you click cancel on this prompt, you will not be able to reach the title screen of any of the games. But you can unlink your Steam account via your Epic account settings. If you do so, you’ll be able to launch and play the Tomb Raider trilogy just as if you’d never linked accounts in the first place.

In summary, the issue which is mentioned everywhere only happens to people who:
1) have linked their Steam and Epic accounts,
2) have clicked "Cancel" when the pop-up asking for permissions to share data with Epic appears upon launching the game.
The solution consists in unlinking the accounts. No need to edit your HOSTS file.

Thank you very much for the information and clarification! 💚 Please Pin this post.

To be honest, I feel quite sad and irritated, that a forum user clarified this now to all players, instead of the publisher before or during patching the game. The publisher gave absolutely no information, justification or forewarning about how to deal with these issues of adding a completely new service to the game. They woke up only after the issues started happening and gave just a one sentence of explanation. This is really just sad for me.

Yeah, I was just wondering what all this fuss was about, since yesterday after update I started RoTR and SotTR and they started and entered fine.
Must be because I never even had Epic account, let alone connected "it" to Steam!
Business as usual for me then!

Or step 4

Ask Valve to refund your game because its unplayable because this DRM was not mentioned on the steam page.

Square Enix really is the retarded version of Square Soft. This single player game is unplayable with no internet connection now. All my pirate friends are laughing at me for retiring from the sailing the seven seas to support the gaming industry.

What happens if you will do step 3) from the original post? (Unlink accounts)

Rocket League (which I bought on Steam) auto-created a dummy Epic account with my Steam attached to it. I can't unlink Steam from it because there's no login information for that Epic account. And even if I do manage to unlink it, I won't be able to play Rocket League anymore or any other games that did something like this. So I'm pretty much forced to allow Epic/Tencent (China) to track my habits through the Tomb Raider games or not play Rocket League anymore.

Never i did link Steam to EpicShit. Because i did know that things will happens like now.
Don´t trust EVILGAMES.
And now i can´t start Rise of the Tomb Raider offline.

Basically, EVILGAMES sabotaged my game and normally computer sabotage carries a heavy penalty.

Except that you lost the posibility to use the game on offline mode and Endurance is still unplayeable on coop unless you downgrade to build 811.3

Btw downgrading the game allow you to use it again on offline mode.

And for some reasson the game is softlocking on certain areas and theres a new "infinite pistol ammo" glitch that can be triggered by accident on many areas (specially with the revolver if you reload on certain time).

If you dont had DLSS funtions then better downgrade the game, but having to face all this issues just for DLSS is not worth it.

Have you tried this?
https://www.epicgames.com/help/en-US/epic-accounts-c74/general-support-c79/how-do-i-upgrade-a-console-or-platform-account-to-a-full-epic-games-account-a3248
This should allow you to unlink the account. I know it won't solve the other problem, though.

also Shadow was completely red !! you know the color red.

it was not red before.
I checked. I never had Epic & Steam accounts linked. When I launch the 1013 build of the game (in Steam Offline Mode), it hangs on the initial screen with the logos with no response. In Online Mode the game launches no problem.

So it seems that indeed, like others, I also cannot play RotTR offline. And I never had the Epic & Steam accounts linked.

Considering this, I think the "13" in the Build number seems appropriate.
