Game will not save progress at all

Temp solution: Check that your permissions for the save files are enabled to alow read/write (or full control) for all users.

Spent just over 4 hours on the game, having completed the radio towers in the soviet installation & progressed past the first firefight. Now when i load my 13% save it won't take me any further than the begning of the level, only just meeting the guy who provides the radio tower mission!

EDIT: It returns me to the same point, just after meeting the guy who gives you the mission for the radio towers, no matter how far i progress. I've tried the backup saves and camp site saves and none of them will add any progress to the game - I've just played right through past to lara being captured and breaking free, and again I am reset to meeting the guy giving the raido tower missions with no progress saved.

do you mean directly next to the last base camp you visited? if so, that is completely normal behaviour of the game, your progress at the time of the save will still be there...

you should save after visiting a camp fire
the game's progession system is always auto-saving so you basiclly have to worry about nothing unless you're crashing or something

Is there anything that can be done to remedy this? I've checked the save files and they're all time/date stamped 28/01 - so they are not even being updated by the game at all.

same problem occuring at a slightly different location in progress, this is apaprently not uncommon

Follow up to my above post: Quick Follow up, I have fixed the problem. Go to your "X:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\########\######\remote\" directory that contains the save file. You need to make sure that the attributes for all files in the directory are not read only and that the security tab has for each 'group or user name' the ability to write. I assume it is All Application Packages user, but i have not tested for certain, i just hit write permissions for a number of them and it worked.

This doesnt get my actual progress back, but it is now saving progress.

"X:\Program Files (x86)\Steam" is not a fix directory, you can choose it at installation time
(For optimisation I choosed D:\Steam)

First ###### is your Steam Id, there should be very few directories in Userdata
Second ####### is the game Id : 391220, there can be a lot of directories here
(391220 is in this page address)

So full pathname is ...\Steam\userdata\########\391220\remote

Alright guys; tried removing read-only on the files and that didn't solve it. I changed all the permissions on the save files to full control for all users (despite me being on the admin account with full control anyway) and now it is auto saving again.

Will drop by later to confirm that it's working.

Could you go to 'load game' in your main menu and let us know whether you see any more recent save files in the slots there? If you can make a screenshot of that then I can pass that to a developer for investigation. Thank you.

Hi, can confirm that changing the permissions of the save files has solved the problem.

Previous to this, going through the load game menu would only display saves prior to the problem.
The load game menu now has updated auto save & camp site save files.

Ditto to Josh, glad this helped. This was what I experienced also.

Im a little confused.. In order to change permissions of the save files, you have to be able to at least save once right? (to initially create said 'save file'?)

because when I get to D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\275897080
I see folders...

only "7" contains a "remote" folder (along with "remotecache.vdf" file)

When I enter the "remote" folder (which puts me at: D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\275897080\7\remote) the only files I see listed are...

So, all that being said, am I in the wrong directory or have I done something wrong? Am I missing the save files?

Hello. I just played for more than 4 hours and went off. I played on Adventure difficulity so It should auto save any time I think. Before leaving I also manually saved. Then once I loaded up the game again, I can only press "NEW GAME". "CONTINUE" & "LOAD GAME" is disabled. Please help
