Ok, problem solved. Invisible soldiers there. Go back to the gate than trebuchet begins shoot again, and then go back to trebuchet.

I did the method RealKingz did: died, reloaded at ice wall, rushed up to the catapult with a shotgun, killed two, attempted to do the wheel, 3rd archer guy spawned, and killed him. what i think glitched me is much earlier at the start of the encounter, i shot the 3 of them with the new greek fire arrows and they glitched that way. just a thought. thanks!

2021-11-27, this bug still exists. This is 4 days after the most recent patch. I re-installed the game just a few days ago. I think I posted a couple of years ago when I found this solution the first time, so just want to say, thanks again!

For me, I tried to run back to the gate, but I fell off a roof and died. When I went back, all 3 were there.

lol i just got to this part and i had this bug too... unbelievable the devs add in DLSS this late in a game's development (6 years after release) but they don't fix this very obvious bug. :shrug:

the fix of running back to the gate then running back to trebuchet fixes the glitch for me too here though so that's good...

Jan 4th 2022, bug still in the game(epic games version)

i have no idea how to fix it, i tried jumping on the trebuchet, jumping under the wooden beam on the trebuchet, getting killed by the archer, restarting the game, reloading checkpoint, going back to gate waiting and after like a minute returning, shooting everything, exploding everything, burning everything, going to an older save

when i reload checkpoint i see all 3 guards but when i kill them something is still firing at me, its not the blue fire arrows like the deathless, but just normal fire arrows, when i jump up on the trebuchet i see the blue arrows

I also had that bugg, solved by running back and forth, but on the end of trebuchets quest, when final gate is breached, i get the whole way back to the courtyard, but also i go back to grab the 3 Survivor Cahes that's left since i found the explorer's satchel, in the outer city mobs endlessly spawn for me on the first cache to the right when coming from the stairs of the courtyard, they yust don't stop coming, and i mean u loot endless ammo and yeild ♥♥♥♥ tons of xp, stopped happening as soon as i moved back up the stairs, and now it ain't retriggering, so i mean if u read this, might aswell try it out for some free xp while your on the quest https://ibb.co/YfhKyD4

Ran into this bug myself aswell. Figured some nearby guard because those use fire arrows when up close. Was searching around for some time, when I gave up, googled and this was the first find. Nothing worked tho, and when I accidentally died misjugding a jump and game reloaded, I just climbed up gunning down everyone with my beloved auto shotgun. For me that did the trick - found three guards up the trebuchet, gunned them down then was able to use it. It looks there are many solutions to this.

Game is awesome tho, I'm having a blast.

Happened to me too, when playing score attack. When you climb up to the trebuchet, make sure you kill 1 dude that is up on the high platform. If that dude is not there, he's inside the treb or inside the terrain, and you got the bug.

This is also not the only place where deathless can glitch into the terrain, but it is the most annoying one.

This solved the issue for me as well. Instead of shooting the guards from the ground, I just climbed up to the trebuchet and killed them there.

Happened to me and I am pissed. I have tried all the solutions listed but none of them work. Continuing, Reloading from Campsite, Suiciding, Running back to the gate, the enemies dont respawn (or load correctly when reloaded/continued). This video is in 2015...

The problem is not using the path the developers thought you'd use.

To fix: use arrows on the walls to climb up. Don't go for the hidden room behind steel beams. Doing that doesn't trigger a Save event. If you climb up using the wall of ice, a Save icon should appear.

If you reload the game and you're back at the gate, you haven't triggered the "right" events.
No need to backtrack all the way to the gate, or reload.
Just go back down and climb using the wall of ice to the left to climb up.

Just encountered this bug this very day. This comment is the workaround.
I did enter the secret room after climbing the ice wall.
Then I backtracked a bit, wait for the trebuchet to fire (indicating the deathless respawned), climbed throught the ice wall again.
All three deathless were visible.

I can confirm it is still there, at least for the PC version. The bug is caused by the 3rd enemy sitting on top of the trebuchet and not jumping down when you get to it. Tried reloading, didn't help. Tried coming back to the gate, that didn't help either except the two soldiers near the trebuchet that respawned.

Solution in my case was pretty simple: there's a wooden beam sticking out of the top platform of the trebuchet, stay almost under it and face it, hit the jump button and use the button to hook with the axe onto it. As soon as you climb on it the third soldier wakes up and jumps down.

Edit: apparently you can get on top by doing the double jump on the trebuchet's side and grabbing the ledge, so no need to work out the position under the beam
