Physical Collector's Edition, bait and switch
I ordered the physical Collector's Edition for the PC awhile back. Which costed about $170 with overnight shipping and handling. On the original advertisement on the Square Enix store for the product, it stated the game would include a physical copy.

Today, i received the collector's edition which included (along with the statue, etc.) nothing more than the jewel "steel" case which was empty! Instead of receiving what i ordered, a piece of paper with a code to download the game from Steam. To say i am upset, is an understatement.

I notice now, Square Enix store had changed the advertisement for the product which states it does not include a copy of the game. At no time after purchase did Square Enix notify me that there would be no physical disk/DVD-ROM included. I did not pay for a piece of paper with a code on it. :( !

The reason I did phone them about the Physical Copy was that my point was what's the point of having the steel case if it's going to be empty and to be honest I do think the collector's edition is a bit lame, let me explain why.

1) Replica of Lara's in-game Journal ... it's just full of blank pages so how is that a Journal...I would rather they swapped that for say an Art Book.
2) Model of Lara's Necklace ... it's just plastic...I have the original one from the Tomb Raider 2013 Collector's Edition Guide and that is some kind of metal this is just some kind of very nasty cheap knockoff.
3) The Steel Case ... When I put the disc's in guess what, when you close it, it does not even hold the disc's in place, there is nothing in the holder for it clip in to, very poor design.
4) 12" Inch tall statue ... This for me makes up for the hole thing in this Collection and was my main reason for getting the Collector's Edition in the first place, It is absolutely superb and I would have paid money for this even outside of this collection.

So there you have it, I hope this sheds some more light on this Collector's Edition.

Wait, if you're a collector, then how do you know that there was no physical disk? Wouldn't it still be sealed?

I received an empty "steelcase". The steelcase was an empty case. If you can scroll up and read earlier posts, some people got the actual disks. I wouldn't be waisting my time here.

I'm not sure what waisting your time is, unless that's a new slang term for hula hoop addiction, but my point is this:

Collectors who collect things of value tend to try to keep them at their highest value.
Things of value are at their highest in their pristine, unopened condition.
If you were a collector, you would not have opened the box, but left it sealed in plastic.
Therefore, you would not know a disk was missing - the case would still be closed.

From this, we can deduce that you are not a collector, you are a guy who buys expensive things and watches them rapidly and unchangeably lose their value, and in this case, you were cheated out of a physical disk for a thing you spent your money on.

Contact Square customer service over and over, continue to be polite each time, but refuse to get off the phone until the situation is resolved. By maintaining an air of politeness, they can't hang up, and will have no choice but to give you assistance.

Journals are blank, until you fill them up. Hopefully that helps clear some confusion.

OK, I'm not confussed at all and if you read my comment properly the pre-order stated it's LARA's journal not bloody mine so why are they all blank pages did she not do anything with her life...lol.

@MrWindblade. I didn't receive what i originally ordered. Reading what you posted is laughable by stating things that aren't remotely correct. Collector's/hobbyists open things they order, what the heck are you talking about? Do not try to mix around the facts. You don't know who i am as a person please don't make assumptions.

Btw the LAra statue is proudly displayed on my shelf. I can take a picture and show what other figures i have. To prove i care nothing about somethings "value". I buy stuff for me, myself, and i.

Some of my "collection". My camera is a bit crappy lol:

Further, i have contacted Square-Enix customer support and was fully respective in that communication. The person(s) i talked to (called two times) were understanding. But again, the issue wasn't corrected. They say to contact email support, which i did. Their response was to send codes to download the game instead of shipping me the physical copies.
