Weapon parts are located in strong boxes. Yes, there are a lot. All weapons can be upgraded with parts found in crates, brown boxes & looting dead enemies. lots of crates to be found (in some areas), tons of brown boxes to find. Looting dead enemies is up to you.
The game is fun.
Someone will come along to help you with a trainer.

after downloading cheat engine and the .CT file
1- Start CE and load the table(the .CT file)just drag the file to the program..
2- Start the game
3- Load a save and go to any campfire
4- Interact with it but don't go in any campfire sub-menu
5- Select ROTTR.exe in CE(select 'open process' in FILE tab menu) to hook it (and keep table when it ask you)
6- Activate the main script then go back in-game to populate the table with correct values
7- Unlock the weapons/outfits you want in CE then return in-game and go in outfit/weapon sub-menu to see them
8- Save, disable the table and close CE

can't help you anymore than this...:)
They've pretty much set it up so if you just open crates as you go through the maps, you're unlocking weapon parts, yet I still have one rabbit to find in Geo Valley, along with other unnecessary collectibles. Point being, salvaging is only a grind if you're going for 100% completion.
