Trying to Launch Tomb Raider into VR

Recently purchased Rise of the Tomb Raider, but when attempting to launch into VR on Oculus Rift, I get this message "VR mode has not been unlocked yet, Please play Rise of the Tomb Raider until you have un locked Croft Manor. Havn't had to do anythimg like this on any other purchase, please tell me what gives!!!!

That's because the Croft Manor(Blood Ties) DLC is the only part that has a VR mode...
the DLC becomes unlocked when you get to the first campsite in the main story...you'll see a notice about it being unlocked...then you exit the main game....then on the main menu you will see Croft Manor...now it is available to play.

Thanks lucasj1210, I was not aware of that, so you have to use a hardware controller, or keyboard to at least get to the campsite. Don't have a controller, so I'll struggle with the keyboard.

Many people play with the keyboard...but yeah...you have to get to at least the first campsite...which is about 20mts into the game...you can 'skip' the cut scenes if you want to speed it up...do not play on 'extreme survivor' mode as this will bring you back to the beginning of the game if you have not gotten to the first campsite.
Some people thought the whole game had a VR mode...and it's even sold in the VR section of some stores...tho' only the one DLC mode is...which is basically walking around Croft Manor and searching for documents(2 minor puzzles to solve) and impossible to get %100 of the documents until you finish the main story.

ok having the same issue , so how do I start the game in none VR mode then ? currently this is is my steam library and the only option/button to start the game is "PLAY IN VR" if i click that button i just get stuck with the "Trying to Launch Tomb Raider into VR" message, Thanks

Verify your install. When you click play in your Steam Library, the first window that pops up should have two options: Play the game, and Play the game in Steam VR mode...

This is a ridiculous mechanic. Is there a point to doing this? I purchased this game specifically to play it in VR, not some weird frankenmode hybrid of a pancake mode and VR.

You can play the full game in Stereoscopic 3D using VR Headset if you have Virtual Desktop Running, Start Game, Enable Stereo 3D, Go back to Virtual Desktop, enable Half SBS. Make adjustments. Like watching 3D Movie. In my case, I have Oculus Rift, I start Virtual Desktop App in Oculus, then start game via Steam.
