ROTTR. exe Virus problem
I want to ask if someone has the same problem and if it is a false positive ? I have the game for more than a half year, and this is the first time i get this detected. I have avast anti-virus and it shows it as Evo-gen [Susp] virus. Any idea on that ?

Just adding my voice here, I'm getting the same thing. The only current workaround is to use the 'beta' version and go to the last patch.

Can't you set it in your AV settings to ignore the executable for the time being?

I will try it. Now i am reinstaling the game and check if it will show as virus.

Same problem, yesterday I was playing just fine, today this happened. I also have Avast. I'm trying to report a false positive, but the reporting utility asks for the program version, which I don't know, since the EXE file just evaporated.

I think the newest patch is the problem here. Before that it newer showed as Virus.

I just tested the exe with virus total and just Avast and Bkav show it as virus. So i am sure it is a false positiv.

Same problem here. When I try to play the game, Steam shows an error message " Executable lost". My anti-virus is Avast and it reports that an archive related with the game has been blocked. I think that it is very clear that the problem is the new patch. I checked the files integrity with Steam, but it didn´t worked.

Everytime I try to launch the game I get an error saying the games exe cannot be found. is that what is gettting the false positive? I am using avast here.

Hi again ! I can play ROTTR ! I´ll try to explain how i fixed the game. First of all, go to your game library and click on "Rise of the Tomb Raider" with the right button of the mouse, and check the files integrity of the game (properties/local files/verify files integrity). Then, Steam will say that a file is missed and it´s going to download that file. When AVAST shows the pop-up alert window, click on "Add the file as an exception" and make the fast analysis of your system. Then, we have to check the files integrity again, and Steam will download the ROTTR.exe file. That worked for me!

thanks will try that. And i hope Avast or square enix, or who ever is in charge for this will fix it.

I tried to add the rottr folder as an exception to avast then verify files but that didn't work. Still get the missing executable failed to start error.

Make sure to click on "Execute clever analysis of the system" in the same window that you add the file exception, because it seems that adding only the file expection don´t work.

Yes, it's a False Positive. Just add it to your exceptions list and report the file as Safe to your AV program's web site.

Make sure you see the folder in the exceptions list and also check the Virus Chest -- opt to restore the file there too. Then shut down Steam and restart it, then try the game again. It should work then. I just went through all this today.
