Shadow of the Tomb Raider supposedly addresses this and lets you turn off pretty much everything - such as survival instincts, paint trails on rocks and Lara working out solutions with her internal monologue.
Not sure if that's what you're looking for, but maybe so.
I have a feeling though, that if it's a game-generated prompt like the one you mentioned, there's no stopping them. I'm guessing "button prompts" are only when you're actively near an object that has a prompt for it; unlike a situational one where you're describing. Would be interesting to know though if the devs thought of disabling ALL prompts. I know the campsite icon still shows up, with Button Prompts Off, but at least the descriptive words disappear.
It is so much more satisfying when I have worked something out myself rather than being told.
