Hi Pyc,

The minimum Nvidia driver version supported for this game is 396.18. If possible try updating to this first and let us know if this helps.

Hi Pyc,

Thank you for the update, we are continuing to work on this issue. For now the best solution I can suggest would be to try playing the game using the Ubuntu distro to see if this improves issue.

It looks like Nvidia released a new stable driver version 396.24 for Linux. Will this driver work or does it still require the 396.18 beta driver?

Specs: Ubuntu 18.04, i7 6700k, GTX 1060 6GB, 32GB RAM, 480GB SSD, 1080p res. V-sync=off.

Feral's 'gamemode' is installed and running.

With Nvidia Driver from Ubuntu and from ppa:graphics-drivers/ppa:
390.48 - no crash, no freeze, but little slow game loading. 87 FPS bench, and HIGH settings.

With Nvidia Driver from ppa:graphics-drivers/ppa:
396.18 - a lot hard crashes(after like 20 min / 1 hour gameplay) and some soft crashes. 87 FPS bench, and HIGH settings.
396.24 - a lot hard crashes(after like 20 min / 1 hour gameplay) and dont have alot gameplays. 87 FPS bench, and HIGH settings.

Not tested with Ubuntu 17.10
Not tested with v.1.0.4 game.

Tested with Ubuntu 16.04 with lastest stable driver for Nvidia 390.30 - no crash. Cannot install 'gamemode' - dependency problems. But i use manual performance CPU mode. 87 FPS bench, and HIGH settings.
With highter Nvidia beta drivers = game hard and soft crash, just like in Ubuntu 18.04.

Update game to v.1.0.4 beta(Ubuntu 18.04):
With Nvidia Driver from ppa:graphics-drivers/ppa:
396.24 - very good gameplay, and no crash or glitch. 87 FPS bench, with HIGH settings.

Installing Feral's gamemode into Ubuntu 18.04:
cd /tmp/
sudo apt install meson libsystemd-dev pkg-config ninja-build git vulkan-utils libcurl4-nss-dev mesa-utils -y
git clone --recursive https://github.com/FeralInteractive/gamemode.git /tmp/gamemode
cd /tmp/gamemode/
./bootstrap.sh

And answer with Y for questions and will need enter you'r sudo pass, then exit with Q.

Now, to request the gamemode:

Set the steam launch options for Rise ot the Tomb Raider:
LD_PRELOAD=$LD_PRELOAD:/usr/\$LIB/libgamemodeauto.so %command%

And save it. Now start the game launcher and check if performance mode on CPU is set with command:
cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_governor

P.S.
So, after installing and request the gamemode, the gamemode will set CPU to performance mode just after start game launcher. After exit the launcher or exit from game, the performance state will stay.
Need some fix, to get back to powersawe state when exit from game or from launcher.

I also add the:
vulkan-utils libcurl4-nss-dev mesa-utils
For missing software/libs for Feral's "Generate report" from launcher.

Game to v.1.0.4 beta(Ubuntu 18.04):
With Nvidia Driver from ppa:graphics-drivers/ppa:
396.24 - very good gameplay but hard crash after like 30min. 82 FPS bench, with HIGH settings and high hair settings.
I play with guns and explosions. No memory leak. RAM stay around 6-7GB usage.
