When to play Blood Ties, story-wise?
What is the most appopriate time in the main story to go through Blood Ties? I just finished Syria and was thinking of going through it before continuing, but am wondering if anything in it will spoil anything in the rest of the game ahead?

Was it meant to be played after the game is finished or is there a more story-sensible time to fit it in?

Blood Ties takes place after the single player campaign chronologically, and you will be spoiled if you play it before finishing the campaign.

Thanks, appreciate it.

Yep don't play it until after you finish the game. It makes more sense if you do.

I was under the impression it took place before she goes to Siberia, even before Syria? Doesn't her uncle mention something like that? Not sure though

Anyway, as everyone says: Play it after the main campaign, but don't expect much gameplay-wise. It is more a walking-simulator with loads of texts that give more background to the Crofts.

Which is fine as a one-time-playthrough, and especially if you like myself got really attached to Lara through playing the main story. It is kind of a nice "epilogue" - and kinda sad ^^

And it really made me wish for a new Tomb Raider - to settle some scores for Lara as well...

Don't hover over if you don't want to be spoiled.
At one point during Blood Ties she mentions Ana's fate.

Oh that works well for me, I'm odd in that I'm mostly playing the game for the story anyway. The gameplay is fine, it just isn't the kind of game I usually play (I prefer RPGs, adventure story games, etc) but I liked the story in the first game (2013 i mean) so I'm playing this one for the story as well, gameplay is very much secondary to me. So if the Blood Ties is basically mostly just story stuff that works just great for me :)

Thank as well and to everyone else who gave their input, I'll be sure to play it after I'm done with the story.

The Blood Ties dlc itself is set after returning from Syria. HOWEVER once you complete the playthrough of Blood Ties and find what you're looking for, there's a time skip to after Siberia should you choose "Explore Croft Manor" again to collect the rest of the artefacts/documents.

Not sure if you have to finish the base game in order to get the time skip and collect them all in the dlc but from my experience they were there upon returning to the Manor post "completion" of the first exploration. Though this was well after I finished the base game.
