Rope arrows and combat knife..?

Can someone help me out with getting what I need to get the rope arrows and/or combat knife? I've done everything I could find to do at the Soviet Installation and have 9 campsites but can't go to any new areas until I get a knife to cut through a fence or rope arrows to go over it. Stuck.

the rope and arrows you get in the early side mission where you rescue Jacob from the Gulag...you have to use it to get out of your cell
the knife you had from the beginning of the game, it's first used when you jumped out of a tree and killed the Trinity soldier in the Siberian Wilderness.

no you don't. you get the knife in the mines.
anyway check the waypoint with Q if you're stuck.

Wrong about Combat Knife. You got it in the Abandon Mines, half-way through campain.

Yes...you are correct about the 'Combat Knife', but didn't she kill that 1st Trinity soldier with a knife?

No Lara doesn't. She uses a rock on the 1st guy, the bow on the 2nd and another rock on the 3rd.
Only Score, Chapter & Elite do you use the knife from the beginning.

Oh Ok....guess I was so used to her pouncing and using a knife. I remember getting the Combat Knife...just thought it was an upgrade to an existing knife.

Amazing how she could kill 30 combat solders so far, and keep forgetting to take their combat knife, not to mention their assault riffles!

I find it more amazing that she can't think up a way to cut rope without a knife. Or squeeze through those barriers. Or hack down thorns. Or anything really. All these artificial barriers really kill the mood.
A player should never feel that they could personally do better than the protagonist :)
