Audio issues?????
OK, when I run sound to my monitor from GPU everything is fine. My problem is I HAVE to use headphones, which are hooked up to my ASUS Strix Soar sound card.

I have went into sound card settings and confirmed 2.0 as I read having surround on setup causes trouble with this game. I uninstalled realtek drivers off mobo to make sure they arent interfering with anything and just not having any luck.

Anyone got any tips or advice for me ???

You don't say what your audio issues are.

he probably did not change primary audio device so it will always play on monitor not on his headphones?!

Whoops. MY bad on that. My issue is that I have no audio in my headphones, and yes i mean when I have them activated as primary audio. When I switch to my monitor in audio devices everything works fine but I need a silent enviroment so I have to use headphones. I have tried a few tricks like those mentioned in op, using DX11 and DX12, disabling all other outputs on my pc, but am coming up short and this is the only game Ive ever had a problem with. Was thinking it may be my sound card but ive been playing division and AC:BF today and no trouble nor on other games and current build is 6 months old. I

Usually this is something to do with the wrong speaker count set in Windows Control Panel. As in having 5.1 speakers set when you are using headphones. In your case though my intuition would be some conflict between sounds devices.

Seems you are running audio to your monitor over HDMI and connecting your headphones to a dedicared sound card. How do you switch between which device is handling sound?

I switch between devices at desktop lower right corner left click at volume button. Works flawlessly with most games but there are a few I have to exit and restart when I try to switch mid game.

I read some articles indicating that 5.1~stereo glitches last night and checked. And my monitor that does work fine (thru DP to GPU) is configed to stereo. I can't configure headphones as they are greyed out. I'm assuming that's because of the sound card and it's software but I have it set to stereo in its program (sonic studios) as well. I deleted the mobo drivers as well to try and prevent conflicts.

Since you have a sound card installed - did you try to disable the realtek chip in bios?

I've never used audio over HDMI so my understanding isn't great. Is it the case that the audio device on the GPU handles the audio itself, as in it is in effect a sound card. Or is the case that the sound card audio is passed through the audio device on the GPU.

its a separate soundchip

The sound card only affects what you plug into it. The gpu to monitor runs off Realtek drivers from mobo I believe. Only reason I prefer the sound card for my headphones is that they don't get really loud with my mobo where the card has an amp.

I FOUND THE CURE!!!!!! Someone on another forum told me to just close the Sound Cards software which now lets it work. No idea why that does anything but it does. :) :) :) Hopefully this thread may help some other poor sucker who may have this problem. Thanks to all who took time to help me fix this issue, you guys are great.

If anybody have this particular issue the post above worked for me. I had the same problem. Just CLOSE THE SONIC STUDIO SOFTWARE for the onboard soundchip and the sound will back in. As my primary audio device i am using headphones. In my case there is nothing wrong with windows audio. Suddenly the asus software brokes the audio in the game.

Yep. My sound card back then was a strix soar and sonic studios was my problem as well.

It's 2020 and I play the game on a Stirx Soar as well. At the moment I'm at 43 %, and the game was error and bugless until now, when the sound popped then went off. And from now, it's always the same, the game loads, the sound pops and goes off.
I've tried what you guys mentioned -to kill sonic studio-, but unfortunately it dosen't work for me, it remains the same.
It's so frustrating because it was bugless until now.... :lunar2019madpig:
Hmm I've plugged the power cord for the sound card in and out, and it seems that the audio problem is fixed.... :lunar2019wavingpig:
