Grapple Jump at Orrery
I am having trouble with the grapple jump at the Orrery. I have lined up the jump correctly (even checked with two you tube videos and two walk throughs). I make the grapple jump as expected but where I see Lara lands on the next beam in the videos, my Lara falls about 4 inches short.

I have tried hitting jump, grab, etc as I come near, tried doing nothing. Tried moving the grapple hooks a bit back but the game just wants them where they end up. (And I do get the “you did it” music cue when they stop moving). Tried jumping from different areas on the beam. I am at a loss.

Any ideas as to what I might be doing wrong?

Maybe you're stading in a slightly wrong position. IIRC you make the jump to the beam then shuffle back so you are about halfway between the end and the centre point. Then turn to face the grappling loops, jump and grapple and it's pretty straightfowrd. You can also adjust slightly as she is the air with the movememnt keys.

You might also try disabling or enabling (depending on the state) of the Auto-Center for your camera view. It's located under Game Play in Options.
I too have missed the mark more than once in this game. As Jac stated, not only can you be slightly in the wrong position, you will also miss a jump if your camera is at the wrong angle; you can also "slip-slide" with the movement keys mid-air.

Thanks to you both! I finally made it. Changed the camera and the stance. Glad to be over this part. Tried that jump a hundred times!

Have a Merry Christmas and New Year!

Hi, did you activate auto camera to ON when you successfully grapple in the orrery? coz i died 100+ times couldn't reach the bar. Thanks

I done it "a 100+" times with and without auto camera on. It doesn't matter as it's all about camera angle anyway.

Raytheon888, I can't recall what I did as it was so long ago and I wrapped the game. But I took Sam's advice as stated and changed the camera AND took Jac's advice and changed where I was standing ever so slightly. Sorry, can't be more specific. But it appears that it is either camera angle and/or where you are standing (by millimetres). Try playing with those variables.

On the PC version, difficulty Tomb Raider, I had to hold down the space bar longer to make the jump, otherwise she always fell short.

I'm playing on PC now and having the same problem. I'm going back through the game to get some collectibles I missed. Didn't have a problem the first time, but in this playthrough I've tried nearly 100 times and am slightly short on the jump. incredibly frustrating.
