They are extra not found in game. For the ones that you actually found in game you do need to find all 4 parts. Those are usually 'better'.
Example the bolt action rifle, you need to unlock it in game yourself. There's a variant gold plated of it that comes from DLC but it also needs you to unlock the actual in game first.
Nah that's not true. I was using the gold bolt-Action whenever I got my first rifle, well before the regular bolt action was unlocked. And the gold and regular variants do have the exact same stats. Ergo, gun parts = worthless. Unless you're going for aesthetics.
Same goes for pistols. As soon as I got the first revolver, the heavy revolver, Moon Shadow etc. were also available. Same with bows. I got the custom composite bow (Deaths Breath) right after finding the first regular bow (in the prison).
