You have to press the C key but i don't know how the devs never noticed this problem when testing the game.

I think it's an in-game joke...due to the fact that there is no other place in the whole game where Lara can sit down.

There's more than one chair. There is at least 3 that I know of and there is an acheivment for sitting in one. 'Best Seat in the House' IIRC. I think that is triggered by sitting in one particular chair that is in a more obscure place from what I remember in my playthrough.

I don't know.....are you sure? what I mean is I've been thru the main story quite a few times and never have seen more than the one Lara can actually sit in.....if there are they must be in some really secluded area.

Well there is a chair in Geothermal Valley which if you sit in you will get the Quiet Time acheivement. All I will say is it gives you a good view of the lake and the tower
