Honestly this is probably THE best F2P game out there. It has pretty much everything you want, and who doesn't want to be a cool ninja in space? The amount of content packed into this game is genuinely staggering, especially when you consider you can experience all of it without spending a single cent.

First of all, the story is probably my favorite part of Warframe. I went in expecting a generic looter shooter with a thin plot to justify the missions, but I was pleasantly surprised. The narrative takes some genuinely wild turns and the writing has more heart and weirdness than it has any right to. Seriously, do not look up anything about its story because it really is a gem in my opinion and you'll hate to be spoiled like that. Just play through the quests in proper order and let it cook. Movement is also incredibly fluid. Bullet jumping, aim gliding, and rolling chain together so well that traversal becomes its own reward, and once you slot in mobility mods you start moving so fast that some tilesets genuinely can't keep up. You'll occasionally clip into geometry, get launched into a corner you can't escape, or find yourself stuck behind invisible walls. Thankfully there's a /unstuck command in chat that teleports you out, which is a lifesaver, but I wish the collision on older tilesets was just better in the first place so you didn't need to use it as often.

My only real gripe with the game is the lack of explanation for a lot of the systems you're expected to engage with. Standing is a great example, the game throws syndicate names, daily caps, and rank requirements at you with barely any context. Mods are another one, and while The Teacher quest does a solid job covering the basics, it stops short of explaining the stuff that actually matters at higher levels like mod polarity strategy, how status chance and elemental combos interact, or why certain builds work. The Teacher is exactly the kind of tutorial content this game needs more of, since it teaches mechanics through the story instead of dumping a wiki page on you, and it doesn't feel out of place or random. More quests in that vein would go a long way.

Also worth mentioning the side activities. There's a ton of grinding in this game, fishing, mining, conservation, K-Drive races, archwing missions, the list goes on, and somehow it all manages to be addicting instead of feeling like filler. You log in to do one quick alert and three hours later you're still chasing a rare drop you didn't even know existed an hour ago.

If you've ever been curious about Warframe, just install it. The first few hours can feel overwhelming but push past that and you'll find one of the most generous and ambitious games ever made.

Overall, Digital Extremes keeps Warframe competitive and one of the best mmo-looter-shooter games out there. It's not just a survivor - it's a titan, and its community is known as one of the least toxic in the genre.

Now, about the money. You can get everything for free, using the mechanics the developers left behind. The premium currency is tradable between players - a bit of farming and trading, and your wallet stays closed. A rare level of fairness for a free-to-play game of this scale.
