Game will not launch
So I've latched onto a few other threads recently (sorry), but I haven't been able to remedy my issue.

Issue:
Launch window opens, ticks up to 85% then crashes. I get the "ErrorReport not sent" message.

I have:
Cleared cache (several times)
verified files (several times)
uninstalled/reinstalled Steel Ocean
uninstalled/reinstalled Steam
check other Steam games (all play fine)
submitted a bug ticket

Any thoughts? Could my ISP be blocking just Steal Ocean and not anything else? It played just fine up until a week ago and I've been playing for over a year now.

Just wondering if anyone has had this exact scenario?

Wetcrankymonkey,

Sorry.

If you have tried all the trouble shooting steps I list, then I do not know what more to do.

Your last hope is to send in an email request for support.

just a thought !!

Yea, I've checked and it is still an allowed app.

I was playing over vacation, would leave it on in the "port" and come play off and on throughout the day while I did some stuff around the house. Came back after a couple hour break and it had crashed. Haven't been able to reconnect since. That's why I was wondering if my ISP blocked the app on their end? Maybe I was eating up too much bandwidth just idling in Port? ;)

Still won't start up. I've chased down error reports in Windows and nothing that should effect it. Everything else still works fine. I'm stumped. :steamsad:

No one else has experienced this??

Also no reply yet from bug report.

Hey Punkchef, everything should be in harmony...but in the spirit of turing over every rock.

BM: Gigabyte Z97X-UD3H-BK
CPU: i5-4590
16 GB Ram
GPU: GTX 970 G1 (SLI)
WIN 10
Drivers up to date
Comcast ISP

I even tried to track down if some WIN or driver update occured about the time of the issue. Nothing I can find. It just worked.....then didn't.

having exactly the same problem - given i sank Elder Lee yesterday I have to assume he's taken steps to prevent me doing the same again ;)

Quick update - my SO refused to launch 4 times citing failure to report problem. I checked the game cache but was assured that all files were fine. I then wondered if it was Steam as it had "hiccuped" in launch just after i started my PC.

Rebooted PC, gave it time to synch happily before launching Steam (nothing outside of virus pro launches automatically on my PC) then tried SO again - which is now running.

I wonder if Steam retains something akin to TSRs when it has its own problems which then adversly impact on SO. Hope it helps.

Hmm, I checked all the C++ files and they were all last installed weeks or months before the crash. I had been playing every day for over a week when it occured. Could something have crept up within them that caused the error?

Takeda...glad you have a solution! My reinstall of steam didn't resolve similarly to yours.
