Subs?
I can't bear the English voice work, however unlike Nep and Fairy Fencer this game seemingly has no subs? All the text is translated, but none of the movies have subs so you're forced to just sit their and listen to the Japanese with no idea of what's going on. Am I missing something or am I going to have to begrudgingly play in English?

Hmm, sadly I don't have the game yet, though I have it on PS3 and there the JP voices are available.
Can't remember which menu and don't have it downloaded to my ps3 currently so can't check.
Would seem to be a fairly odd thing to remove from the PS3 version.
Though PS3 and PC have different publishers so not impossible.
PS3 publisher is NIS America while PC version is Ghostlight LTD.

THe voices here seem to be the same as the voices in the PS3 version.
THat said, the English voice acting in this game is not bad at all.

I wish people would stop automatically deciding English Voice acting is terrible beyond words.

This game is not Chaos Wars. Nor is it the Neptuna Rebirth series. Which has worse acting, but is still not bad.

"Duel in Dual Audio: Experience the game in either Japanese or English audio."
Taken from the "About this game" text on the store page, so should have the JP voices in a setting somewhere.

Personally I'm one who prefers the original voices. :P
If the original voices are English then that's what I'll use, if Japanese then that's what I'll use.
Though there's exceptions, some games where English is the original language might have added JP audio, and if I like the JP VA's, that's what I'll use.
Yet to find a game where I like the English voices more than the JP voices. :happymiya:

Subtitles are not required for the most part, because what's being said is almost always on screen, written in English anyway.
Still, you can use external subtitles with all in-game videos if your codecs are appropriately configured.

Here are subtitles for the new game video, confirmed to work with ffdshow decoder from K-Lite Codec Pack (instructions inside).
No-intro videos are included because why not save 30 sec on startup every time you want to play the game.

Alternatively, wait for the devs to hardsub videos or reencode them with your own subtitles yourself.
Bonus points for karaoke'd opening.

English voice acting wouldn't be such a problem, if it would cover the same as the JP voice acting. Which it doesn't. Not even close to it. For example, none of the generic character have any English voices. Aside of that it's your typical NISA half-dub.

This means the question isn't just if you like the English or the Japanese dub more. By choosing the English one, you also get a whole lot of silence. And I still think it needs to be in the product description. After all it says there is FULL audio in English. Which is just a lie. The only full audio available is in Japanese.

Kiru, this game's voice acting is not actually terrible.
The half-dub you state makes no sense.

When this game came out years ago, literally no one complained about hte voice acting being terrible.
I think you wouldn't have been the first person to complain about it, you know. :)
Gamefaqs along would be full of angry haters of the vocie acting.

A whole lot of silence though? Yeah, not every part is voiced, but no game NISA made was like that.
Even Disgaea never had full voice acting in every single spot. English or Japaense.

I tried doing this, and I can't get the subs to work in the opening. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.
