FAQ
What kind of game is Oxenfree?
Oxenfree is a choice-based supernatural teen thriller, about a group of friends who unwittingly open a ghostly rift. You can read more here[nightschoolstudio.com] or here.

What are the minimum system requirements?
You’ll need at least a 2Ghz processor, 2GB RAM, 2.4GB of available hard disk space, and a graphics card with 1GB of VRAM that supports Shader Model 3.0. You will also need Windows 7 64-bit or higher, or OSX 10.8 or higher.

I found a bug! Where can I report it?
support@nightschoolstudio.com. If you’re reporting a crash, black screen or graphics issue, it would really help us out if you could also send us your output log.

Where can I find my log?
If you are playing on Windows, find your Oxenfree directory and open the Oxenfree_Data folder
If you are playing on a Mac:
-Go to your user folder
-Right click and select “Show View Options”
-Check the “Show Library Folder” box
-Go to /Library/Logs/Unity/Player.log

What does ‘Skybound Insiders’ do? How does it work?
As part of our partnership with Skybound Entertainment we will be offering a free digital copy of the Oxenfree EP to members of their Skybound Insider service who purchased the game on Steam. You must have your Skybound Insider account linked to your Steam profile in order to receive the reward. For additional information, you can read more here[accounts.skybound.com].

What does ‘Disable Effects’ do?
The ‘Disable Effects’ option turns off specific post-processing and particle effects that are used in the default version of the game. If you are experiencing frame rate issues, we recommend using ‘Disable Effects’ first before asking for further assistance or performing additional troubleshooting.

Will there be DLC?
There are currently no plans for DLC, but if we do decide to develop additional content (paid or not) we will be sure to update this page and our various community forums.

Is Oxenfree going to be available on other platforms?
In addition to our Steam release, Oxenfree’s console debut is exclusive to Xbox One, but we are exploring other platforms (both console and mobile) for sometime later this year.

What languages do you plan on releasing translations for?
We are currently looking into translations for various languages, but at this time have no official announcement for additional supported languages. We will update this FAQ and our various community forums once we are ready to announce additional translations.

Is there a subreddit for Oxenfree?
Yes. It’s here.

I want to record a let’s play or a video review of your game. Is it okay for me to stream or upload footage?
Almost certainly. If you like the game, we’d appreciate a link to our Steam page, too.

I’m a journalist. How can I get in touch with you?
You can reach us at oxenfree@fourtyseven.com.

Known Technical Issues:

I have a decent graphics card, but my framerate is terrible!
Make sure that your OS is using your graphics card and not your integrated graphics. On desktops, make sure your monitor is plugged into your graphics card. On a laptop, the OS might be automatically switching to your integrated graphics chip. In order to force use of your dedicated graphics card, you may have to open up the graphics card manager provided by the manufacturer.
NVIDIA cards: NVIDIA Control Panel
AMDs: AMD Catalyst Control Center
(By default in Windows, these are accessible by right-clicking your desktop)
Also note that some laptops will throttle the power provided to your graphics card if the machine is not plugged in! Be sure to only play the game with your laptop hooked up to a power source.
If you still have issues, try enabling “Disable Effects” or lowering your resolution in the options menu.

I’m stuck. Like, actually stuck. Help!
You may have hit a bug! Please let us know by emailing support@nightschoolstudio.com! In the meantime, pause the game and return to the main menu. After loading, you can start the game from the beginning of that scene. Sorry about that!

My game crashes when starting it up.
Our one known crash occurs when there is no valid sound device. If you have no speakers, you may need to plug some in (this includes headphones!) for the game to run. This likely depends on your sound card.
Otherwise, send us a crash log and we can research it!

I have subtitles turned on, but I don’t see anything for the ‘Walking Tours’?
Currently, none of the radio stations in the game have subtitle support. This is a known technical issue that we are working hard at fixing. We will most likely update this in a patch in the near future.
