I've always figured she was Native American or Mixed-race (partially because we share the same name and I'm also Native American).

Anomaly 102.3 (Epiphany Fields) says:
"The island is famously named after Colonel Caleb Edwards for his glorious and triumphant slaughtering of countless families, during one of the great ethnic cleansings of the 20th century. The forceful removal of an ignorant people to make space for destined holders is a time-honored tradition in our still young country. You will be a part of that heritage, Alex. Do not resist, it will be over soon."

I think this might have more of a personal effect on Alex if she was also Native American. Plus, Oregon has a pretty decent level of American Indian population.

I've seen other headcanons saying that she's Filipino or Black. Personally, I don't think there's really a "right headcanon". Native American just makes the most sense to me.

That's really interesting. I do like that fans inject their own preferences onto her so that she's not really one single race (well she's definitely not white), so that representation works for all groups

Yeah!! I'm Native American on my dad's side and Italian on my mom's, so it's really cool being able to relate to Alex on so many levels such as this.

Wouldnt the thing make more sense if she wasnt native american?
I mean, it wasnt exactly the native americans who ccame over to america to genocide all the native americans. And Alex is a european name, btw.

People of color can have European names.

It also tells her not to resist, that it'll be over soon. That's not typically something said to the aggressor in a situation. Native Americans may have been unwilling participants in their own genocide, but from a technical standpoint it couldn't happen without them.

That said, the roll Alex is playing in that heritage may have nothing to do with the attacks on Native Americans by U.S. troops. Aren't the ghosts also trying to forcefully remove "ignorant people" (Alex and her friends) to make space for "destined holders" (the ghosts)? Only in this case they're being removed from their bodies.

ummm well at that time, they did the horrible incarceration of Japanese citizens.. it was a big issue in the Pacific Northwest, Horrible. (it was in British Columbia Canada as well) http://www.historyonthenet.com/WW2/japan_internment_camps.htm
I know that she doesn't really look Japanese but...
here's a bit from the article..
"On December 7th 1941, the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. US citizens feared another attack and war hysteria seized the country.

State representatives put pressure on President Roosevelt to take action against those of Japanese descent living in the US.

On February 19th 1942 Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066. Under the terms of the Order, some 120,000 people of Japanese descent living in the US were removed from their homes and placed in internment camps. The US justified their action by claiming that there was a danger of those of Japanese descent spying for the Japanese. However more than two thirds of those interned were American citizens and half of them were children. None had ever shown disloyalty to the nation. In some cases family members were separated and put in different camps. During the entire war only ten people were convicted of spying for Japan and these were all Caucasian"

I always figured she was native as well, mostly because I knew a native girl just like her, blue hair and all! It's a cool plot beat if so, especially considering the lack of indegenous representation in video games.
