Is the controller supposed to vibrate the entire game?
Mine does and I don't see an option to turn it off or to only apply it to situations where it would be required. I mean i guess it's OK that it does that, but it's kinda weird I feel like my arms are going numb.

It only vibrates when the radio is active, and it's used to know you're on the right channel.

Maybe your controller is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up, because it's only supposed to vibrate in certain parts like Emerald said.

I have two xbox controllers. They both are always just constantly vibrating. If I disconnect and reconnect it goes away but eventually it'll start up and just keep going and then it's like opposite ville, turning on the radio will stop the vibration. Happens on both controllers so I don't think it's the controller.

I had to turn the radio on and off a few times to make mine stop.....

Yeah, it happens to me all the time. I turn the radio on, scan a bit and it usually stops.

Yup. Same. Turn it on and off. Doesn't fully stop vibrating, but it does like 90%.

Can't get mine to stop vibrating at all, also the DPad stops working in the menu occasionally.

I've just started the game for the first time and I have the exact same problem. Using the XBone Pro Elite controller, I hold the Home Button a couple of seconds to bring up a Windows overlay menu and dismiss straight back out and that resets it.

Same issue here, wanted to play it last night, ended up powering down because the controller would constantly vibrate from the start screen, and no option to turn it off (XB1 Controller).

Anyone found a way to make it stahp?
Zyrconia Dec 19, 2017 @ 5:21am
Nope, it stopped by itself.

I did alt-tab a lot to try to google the problem and re-connected the pad 100 times.

Eventually it stopped.

Hitting the the big "X" button on the controller tto bring up the gaming menu in windows 10 seem to stop it for a while.

Obviously it's not supposed to. It's one of those embarrasing bugs that apparently developers never bothered to fix.

So I just bought this game and ran into this problem with my xbox One and xbox Elite controllers.
I couldn't find any good solutions online, but I explored a bit and figured out these easy steps to fix the problem if you are using steam, which if you are reading this, then I am assuming you are. I am also using Windows 10, but I am not sure if it matters. Note this will completely disable vibration on your controller for Steam games. It will not work at all (I hate vibration anyway), but you should be able to change it back at any time.

With your xbox controller plugged in, open up Big Picture mode (don't worry.. we just need to use it to change the settings). You can do this by going to View -> Big Picture Mode.

Once it opens up, click on the Settings icon, which is next to the power icon. Once in settings, go to Controller Settings. I turned off "Guide Button Focuses Steam" and selected "Xbox Configuration Support". At the bottom, under Detected Controllers, click your Xbox One Controller which should be detected if it is plugged in. When the new menu opens up, you mnay have to click Identify. Once that is done, select Preferences.

In here you have your Controller Name and Rumble Preference. Change Rumble Preference to OFF. Select Submit. A message should show up saying something like "Xbox One Controller. Using settings from "your steam name here"". Once that is saved, select Back, select Back again, then sleect the Power icon in the upper right corner. Then select, Exit Big Picture.

Now you are back in the regular looking steam. I chose to restart Steam, so I didn't test if it works without restarting the service. Once this was done, Oxenfree worked for me without any controller vibration at all. It applied to all other games in my Steam library as well.

In addition to Jaripnlujub comment, once "Xbox Configuration Support" in the global controller settings is enabled, it is also possible to turn off rumble per game using the Big Picture mode:
- Select the game in your library (Big Picture)
- Click on "Manage Game" right below the Play button
- Select "Controller Options"
- Rumble Emulation: Set it to Off to disable Rumble/Virbrate for that game only.

If anyone still has this issue, there's a quick solution that works for me on Win10 with a wireless Xbox One controller:
Simply make the game windowed (press Alt+Enter or set it in options) then click outside the game window (so that it loses the focus). This stops the constant vibration for me and then I can go back to fullscreen and continue using the controller.
Edit: The vibrating doesn't stop sometimes, so then you've just got to Alt+Enter, click outside (vibrating stops), click back inside, Alt-Enter again, and then resume playing. Might be a bit frustrating having to do this multiple times, but it's not game-breaking if you really want to stick with the controller.
