Well, for my part, I don't want to find any art that could be somewhere else (except for Easter eggs or such) because it removes part of the atmosphere and because the originality takes a serious hit. So I probably will not buy this game—not right now, at least. But if I hear something about it in some other place, I will reconsider it.
I'd rather have "bad" basic art (because I understand that not everyone is able to make things look great) than stuff "randomly" found on the Internet.
No, I'm just rewarding those who use original (in the sense of "new") art. No two games should look the same except for sequels (for obvious reasons), in my opinion.
And I don't care if you're the first one to use a pack, my opinion will still be: make your own art or ask/hire someone who is competent enough to make art.
I argue that its game play that matters and simply not realizing the first game you played was free art and now bashing other programmers for using the same art, is kinda lame. I haven't bought this game yet either, on wishlist. Don't possibly miss out on a good game becuase this guy isn't an artist or no money to pay for art.
Finding an artist is hard work, those people love to work but seem to think what they have is always a gold mine. And nobody can touch it till they pay the price. I digress.
I am, too, more interested in gameplay than art style but I don't want it to deter me from enjoying the game, either.
There is no problem with the Titan series because, as you said, there were made by the same developers, Puppy Games. And since they all share a similar background, they kind of are of the same IP.
And no, I don't think I've ever played a game with that tile set because I tend to stay away from those games. But still, it is on my wishlist (true, I have a lot of games on my wishlist, it's to keep an eye on them).
There are other Tower of the Sorcerer clones on Steam, and they are much more pricier than this one, but with other graphics.
Your money, your choice. No one here have a problem if you want to spend much more, to be honest.
I think the game is a great value for money, especially during sales. But there are other choices.
