As I recall, there were a lot of apocryphal theories on how to get it to actually work all of the time, but I'm not sure any one theory was proven to work.
The things I suggest are:
-- Save before approaching the beasties you want to kill, so that if you don't get credit, you can ALT-F4 from the game, and try again.
-- Don't put the amulet on until you are within striking range of the transparent enemy.
-- Confirm credit for the kill before doing anything else. As above, if you don't get credit, ALT-F4 from the game and reload. Then, try again until you get credit.
-- As an extra precaution until this is solved, it'd be a good idea to make backups of your save files in case a failed kill gets saved.
I dunno, if this is confirmed and well-known bug, shouldn't "enhanced" edition attempt to fix it?..
All I did was save before each fight, wait till I was standing beside the invisible enemy before putting the amulet on, fight the enemy, and wait for confirmation before saving.
Are you playing with the frame rate unlocked? This a 2012 game, so pretty sure that the game although it accepts/allows more than 60 FPS, maybe when it goes beyond 60, weird problems like this can occur. Yes, I play with a 60 FPS cap.
