Very well made video ! I had a thread about the desaturation issue with other video comparisons. Check it out if you're interested.

Every comparison video I watched were washed out like this one for the Pc Deathinitive. I'm starting to believe there's a serious technical issue somewhere if not everyone sees the same game Oo

It's not locked at a particular framerate.

The op doesn't appear to own this game. If you go into the pinned thread, D2 engine, the devs explain the changes there to a great extent.

I suspect a lot of people didn't adjust the darkness (gamma) setting when they did their videos/screenshots. The default setting in the Deathinitive Edition is pretty high up imo, so that would increase the "washed out" effect.

I left it at default level and I'm using an AMD setup. @randy there are other game clients other than Steam you know.

This is what the developer said regarding the contrast:

Less colorful than the original?

It's possible that the lighting might have changed in a few areas, but it's the same textures. We just took the original high rez textures we had stored away somewhere, and took the time to hook them up in the game. Nothing new was created on that front (I wish we had been able to do this for the original PC release, but alas fate conspired against THQ to make that not possible).

I know one thing people react to is the overall contrast level. The original game was VERY contrasty, to the point that many of the colors were getting crunched - at some point, instead of seeing the full gradiant of the color, it just got crunched to black. You lose a lot of information that way. When we updated the renderer, we implemented much better lighting equations, tone mapping, etc... The result is that you are seeing the full range of the colors. The side effect is that it appears to lose contrast. You may prefer more contrast - that's a personal taste thing - but overall I think the new look is more appealing in total.

There is no real video comparison on youtube. Any video comparison comp ares the ps3 version with the ps4 version, which is faulty in itself since what people actually want to see is the Original PC versions vs the Deathnitive PC version. But we will never see that since for some reason, people play on low settings on the Original and high settings on the Deathnitive. It's really sad.

The video shows off both the PC versions running at max settings. Here's a direct feed link.

it's not washed out it's a gamma setting ;) if you don't know what gamma settings is well google it.
+ PBR rendering is a bit different it's physicaly based to get a correct lighting so yeah the lighting is a bit different it's normal.
