How do you get the free upgrade?
I own both Darksidiers 1 and 2

The automatic upgrade was unfortunately tied only to the "Franchise Pack" of the Darksiders series. The developer claims that Steam won't technically allow them to upgrade folks who own all the stuff without the "Franchise pack".

However, other developers have been able to gift free versions to folks who own versions of other games, in other complicated combinations. Hopefully this can be resolved soon - the game has 70% bad reviews now, and it's likely to keep getting worse.

Folks don't like being asked to pay $6 for an engine/texture tweak pack, when it's offered for free on GOG.

you don´t... you had to buy the franchise pack... solo-buyers are pretty much f****.

since this version crashes when you try to run the "native" 1080 resolution...(LOL), no point in getting it. who needs "optimizations" like that? game was fine before. sure a graphical update is nice, but most played this 3 years ago, why get it again now?

So even though i bought the day 1 edition lord knows whennever came out again i have to pa 6 extra dollars for a graphics mod :/

I wish they just don't bother discounting/giving it away. There will be no crying then.

Then we'd complain over buying it again.... SOD YOSE had that issue

IMO having to "buy again" complaints happens so often it would not make the news / get ignored. On the other hand, complaints of "developer cheating the most loyal costumers!!!!!!!" got so much more traction and spread like wildfire.

The "update" here is nowhere near big enough to justify purchasing it again. So if people don't get it for free, don't buy it again! They are missing on nothing worthwhile (as far as I can see...)

I'm not against devs making new versions of their games, i'm more pissed off that they don't fix the older games issues first, Crashes etc still happens in the first Darksiders, i have no idea if these are the same developers or not but why would anyone buy a third copy if the first two didn't work very good, seems incredibly dumb on us..

I understand some didn't have issues, but many do still.
