huuuh wtf. -scratch head-
hi, i just finished the first darksiders, it was a nice zelda like stuff, i really enjoyed it. naturally i start the 2nd one ... the awful parcour crap ? check. no problem

dwarf village. ok first fight ! get one shotted every time. 50 try after i put it quite low, it pulls a move outta nowhere and proceed to kill me from its back. no problem.

i'm slightly annoyed so i move to the first dungeon ... a lizard thingy proceed to kill me in 2 moves. 5 tries later i kill it. no problem, lets wander and take a bit of xp, because i feel like a fragile teenager with big knives. no monsters. nowhere.

so i continue a bit .... despite being quite angry at this point ... and i drop on a treant who has track attacks, can one shot me, and has a ton of health ???

so ... suddently the question is : is this a very bad dark soul, a super hard rpg, or i missed something ?

i'm playing in normal mode. i think.

The game is not difficult.

You're not supposed to fight Thane until later (you can defeat him early on, but one hit from him will likely end the fight).

The Weeping Crag is a higher level dungeon (Gorewood is Level 10 IIRC). You can clear it first thing, but you'll probably want to come back later, especially since you seem to be having trouble with it.

You can see enemy levels when you lock on (the level number appears to the left of the health bar). If an enemy is much higher in level than you are, you're probably going to have a tough time (and you should think about going somewhere else).

As for your other issues, you're not supposed to see the additional campaigns menu until you unlock the DLC campaigns (much later in the game); I'm not sure why it's showing up for you. And the problem with the character freezing after using menus happens if you use the Steam in-game overlay (you shouldn't use it when playing the game; if you do, you'll need to quit and relaunch to prevent the movement issue).

oh ! ok. i just followed the light. i really dont understand the point of keeping a zone opened if i have nearly no chance of overcoming it, and if the xp is not even scaled to the risk but .. allright.

i'll do that, thanks a lot !

this game is atleast as good as the one you think ?

edit : ok, it's a semi open-world thing and i cannot clear everything i encounter. now the monster feel really weak >< thanks !

The game is good. It's not perfect, but it's a lot of fun, and I enjoyed playing it at least as much as I did the first game.

If you have the damage counter enabled it will frequently. Disable the damage counter and you should make it through the cruciable.

Because for some players (i.e., me) it's challenging (i.e., fun) to fight a boss that you know can one shot kill you so long as it's possible to beat them. Fortunately this game's bosses are designed in such a way that every attack is dodgeable if your timing and positioning are on point. You can search Steam or YouTube for "Perfect Death" to see my series of boss kills where for some of them I'm severly underleved.

I've played games like Borderlands 2 (which I love) where bosses having undogeable AOE attacks, damage reduction based on levels, and health regen. These 3 things in combination make it impossible to beat them w/o appropriate leveling and gear. So I find Darksiders 2 game mechanics to be quite good because it doesn't require you to be at any particular level or to have specific gear to engage and defeat its enemies. Levels and gear simply decrease the amount of effort required to be succesful, which I think is a good way to design/implement and open-ish world adventure game.
