Looking for a saved game file
So I want to play through this game once again, to check out the Deathinitive Edition and to get all the achievements again. Thing is, I've played DS2 a lot, and I really don't want to play this version twice. And it's impossible to complete everything in one playthrough, since you need NG+ to uncap your level and complete the Cruicible.

So, if anyone has a saved game file that's close to the end of the game (normal new game, obv, not NG+), preferable with minimal completion of sidequests and leveling up (but that's not really an issue), so I can just kill the last boss and start a new NG+ and play the game properly (instead of playing through it twice), I would really appreciate it.

Can't seem to find DE saved games online anytwhere, and regular DS2 saved games don't seem to work.

How does that help me? I can't find Deathinitive Edition saved games, not on torrent sites as well.

The saves from DS2 are the same as those from DE no matter what anyone says. Saves made on another persons Steam acct won't work on your acct. without being edited. To do that you need to download Notepad++ and it's Hex editor plugin. There's a video on youtube showing how to edit the save files. You need a save you made on your computer, doesn't matter where in the game, and a save you got from the internet. There's a short section of code in your save that identifies the save as coming from your Steam acct. You need to copy that section using Hex and replace the bit in the downloaded save that identifies it as belonging to someone elses acct. Then it works, since I did this and am almost finished the game. If you have an old DS2 save from your original game then it will work without editing as long as you remember that the game keeps saves in two places so you need to replace the file in Documents/My Games/Darksiders2 and the one in Program Files(x86)/Steam/Userdata/steamacctnumber/388410/remote. Hopefully you have an old save of your own because editing the files is a pain and you may not want to try it depending on the level of your computer skills. Whatever you do make frequent backups of your save files as the game still has some serious bugs and you want to be able to go back to an earlier save. Don't use Steam cloud as it uses the same slot for DS2 and DE. If you had a save from the original game in the cloud then starting DE will wipe it. I hope whoever designed this game was fired when THQ went bankrupt.

Thanks, that's a great explanation! I do have an old DS2 save file, and I can load it in DE and it works, but it's in one of the DLC locations, and there's no way to return to the main game, since DLC is handled differently in DE. I will try the editing method you game me with DS2 save files I found online. Hope it works.

<snip>.

Played the DE version to see how it looked compared and saved thta in slot one. Tried that save in the original version it had issues due to dlc.

My save at the Tree of Death (which I abandoned about 3 months after THQ disbanded) worked in both versions. On the Original edition (franchise pack) My save was in slot one. This then pushed my newer save (a week or three old) to slot number two. Now both versions have the same slots filled by the same saves.

The tree of life save has a bug in it so I can't offer it up. It;s been so long since I palyed that save that I can't even remeber the puzzle I am working on or how far thru it I am.
