Because they were warmongers, they enjoyed the chaos of war, and wanted Eden for themselves when it was supposed to go to humans. He either killed the Nephilim, or doomed humanity.

but why would death care about humanity ? , you would think he would side with his kin .

Death doesn't mention if he cares about Humanity one way or the other, but he does regret killing his kin. It's pretty much in the dialogue and his unwillingness to destroy the amulet that houses the souls of the fallen Nephilim.
