Karn softlock during heart of the mountain

during the part whre you get the soul stones into the guardian it glitched out where karn would not pick it but and it disappeared and now he is soft locked behind the double gate and wont go through the first door

Seems like Heart of the mountain (and Karn in particular) is terribly buggy for a lot of people. For example in my game Karn disappeared after i fast traveled out of the Foundry, and he hasn't reappeared even after closing the game and reloading multiple times, switching to beta and back, travelling elsewhere, etc. Looks like i lost 7 hours of progress then...

Maybe it's of no relevance to the people, who read this discussion so far, but maybe for someone in the future: close the game and restart it as administrator (open your steamapps folder, search for common).
In my case the stone respawned, I had to get up to it again, but this time Karn finally picked it up.

Two years latter. This comment saved my game file from a soft lock. I am playing on the hardest difficulty and trying to get 100%. So the progress I made took a long time. Thank you!
