No fast travel from the City of the Dead?

Yesterday I got the Soul Splitter and did the first few rooms in the City of the Dead; there's quite a few things I remember I needed the ability for in previous places (at least the Nook, Sentinel's something, and that small "dungeon" at the start of the Land of the Dead, that I can remember) but from the moment the King of Bones sent me to the City the game keeps saying that fast travel is unavailable, is this normal? Do I need to complete this part of the game to use it again? :(

Yes,it is normal,after you finish the City of the Dead quest you can use fast travel again.
