La regola d'oro del retrogaming?
Se qualcuno vi dice che "gioco X è un capolavoro"; DIFFIDATE, SEMPRE.

Day of Tentacle, a mio malgrado, cade proprio nella categoria di giochi che non merita la fama che gli si addice oggi giorno.
Purtroppo NIENTE si salva per me in questo punta e clicca.

La storia è di una semplicità veramente banale e, per quanto non sia così GRAVE, non ti spinge molto a continuare a giocare, soprattutto contando gli altri problemi che ha. Cioè, è carino che l'antagonista sia così strano, e devo ammettere che mi è piaciuto l'accenno "finale" al motivo per il quale sia cattivo, ma tutto viene rovinato da un finale che più cliché di così non si può.

I personaggi sono veramente uno spreco di potenzialità, soprattutto perché non interagiscono quasi MAI tra di loro, e quelli con cui puoi interagire non sono per niente memorabili ed o interessanti (anzi, spesso sono cloni di altri personaggi). Mi è piaciuta la dinamica dei tre protagonisti contemporaneamente, sia chiaro, ma secondo me poteva essere fatta DECISAMENTE meglio.

I puzzle sono a dir poco ridicoli, a volte sono la cosa più banale e logica del mondo, altre volte invece sono completamente insensati. Inoltre, passare oggetti da un personaggio all'altro è tedioso a livelli immani dato che devi farti strada per metà mappa OGNI SINGOLA VOLTA solo per provare un oggetto che poi non funziona comunque.

Davvero, non so come faccia la gente ad elevare questo gioco così in alto. E c'è da dire che Sam&Max: Hit on the Road era 10 volte meglio, nonostante fosse uscito praticamente lo stesso anno, e dalla STESSA IDENTICA CASA DI SVILUPPO.

A chi non ci ha ancora giocato, vi dico semplicemente: non fatelo. Davvero, non è quella madonna che vi raccontano, e non vi perdete NIENTE a giocarlo.
Piuttosto prestate attenzione, ed interesse, ad altri titoli della Lucas Art (come il precedentemente menzionato Sam&Max o Grim Fandango).

Magari all'epoca poteva essere decente visto che la concorrenza era praticamente nulla, però adesso è VERAMENTE mediocre.

In conclusione; Day of the tentacle è un'avventura grafica godibile, ma niente di eccezionale ; il gioco nel complesso non è fatto male , ma non ha nessun punto solido a favore il quale lo renda un gioco degno di nota. Se cercate delle belle avventure grafiche firmate LucasAarts giocate ad altro.

27 minutes, five crashes.

Audio bugs, music loop errors, and after the first real 'moment' of the game (that I had to try many times to get to with crash2desktop) --- it hangs.

Not impressed. Back to SCUMMVM and the original disks. At least they freakin work.

Another Double Fine mess.

Game's just good ol' nostalgia and glad it's got remaster now, plus you can even play Maniac Mansion while in DOTT. So basically 2 games in one, what an awesome deal and nostalgia flowing.

But the main problem in remaster that ruins all the joy and nostalgia is the music...

Also sometimes loops some depending on cutscenes, endlessly and that's just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ dissapointment. Contacted Double Fine on site and email to fix the problem, but guess there isn't fix and just abandoned game with no new patch to fix ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ music issue. No music playing = kills the nostalgia mood to continue playing

Oh boy... I feel like I might make some people mad here--if I'm not mistaken, this is a bit of a cult classic? Fair enough, I can see the appeal. It's certainly got a lot of... personality...

I tried. I really tried. But suddenly, after several hours, I just couldn't take it anymore. The obnoxious, braindead characters. The flat, bland artstyle. The irreverent, frequently unfunny humor. Hoagie burping all the dang time. It's just... UGH. I kept telling myself, "I'm invested in the items, they were hard to get and I want to see what ridiculous things they get used for," but after a while they just weren't worth all of the everything else that is this game. It is, after all, a Point & Click that falls headfirst into the classic pitfalls of the genre: puzzles with solutions so bizarre and obscure that more often than not, you find yourself stuck, aimlessly trying anything on everything without any real hope of making progress. Honestly, I'm used to that with Point & Clicks, and am usually willing to put up with it for some element or another--the story, the characters, the world-- something. But not here. There's nothing for me here. It's far from a terrible game, but I just... I just can't, man.

There is no doubt that Day of the Tentacle and Maniac Mansion paved the way for both adventure games and point and click adventures alike. However, I've not until now played either of those games, so I can look at Day of the Tentacles Remastered with a modern lens instead of with rose-tinted glasses. As someone who really does enjoy both point and click and adventure games, there's quite a few things I liked about Day of the Tentacle, like its charming three heroes and the personality both they and the game's art style just ooze. Everything else kind of blows though. The music is pretty middling, the main villain's kind of boring, the puzzles rife with adventure game logic, and the overarching story is just awful. If you have nostalgia for Day of the Tentacle I'm sure this is a safe purchase, but otherwise I cannot recommend this game to new prospective fans.

I'm not a big fan of adventure games and their illogical puzzles, pixel hunting, and item hoarding. But I've gone back and played a handful of The Classics (most recently Loom and The Dig) and was able to find some entertainment in them. Day of the Tentacle is way worse than all of them and after an hour and a half I could tell it wasn't the game for me.

The humor is fairly juvenile and nothing I saw got even a slight smile from me. The real killer though are the nonsensical puzzles. There's a point early on where you need to collect oil, vinegar, and gold in order to save the world. There are a half-dozen people around to talk to but none of the conversations are about any of those things. There is a "gate" and the only way forward is to find some red paint, paint a kumquat tree red, tell someone that it is actually a cherry tree, then bet him he can't cut it down. What does any of that have to with finding oil, vinegar, or gold? Other than wandering around the entire house, clicking on every single thing, trying every single item combination, and going down every pointless conversation tree...why would you even think that's something you should do?

I did not look forward to several more hours of "puzzles" like that, so I uninstalled.

Nostalgia creeped up to me when I started the game. However, 50mins in the game the audio corruption bug happened and it killed all my mood for playing the game. Uninstalled it and requested a refund. Other than that, the game is fine. I'm sorry if my review will somewhat mar the game's overall standing, but this just had to be done.

I promise I will amend this review once the bug is fixed. Until then, this will remain as the most difficult decision in reviewing I've made.

If you look at the positive reviews for this game, you'll see a LOT of them reference the fact that they played this game when it first came out. I'm not saying that nobody trying this out in the modern day will like it, but I am saying that most will probably not. I think there is a serious case of nostalgia-goggles here.

I went into this game not knowing much about it. I just knew that it's considered one of the great classic point-and-clicks, and I've enjoyed quite a few P&C so thought I should try it.

What I found was a heap of terrible voice acting, writing that didn't come together into anything coherent, and humor that would probably fall flat for anyone over the age of eight. Things like "haha, that nerd's pants are pulled up too high" and "haha, that guy tripped and fell!"

If this game were new today, it would be ripped to shreds by any critics, and then promptly forgotten.

Not a game for me: Mediocre story and characters, obscure and convoluted puzzles in three different timelines with lots of riddles and no clear solving order. I read a guide to proceed to the end since I realized I didn't have any fun solving these puzzles, there are only a few gotcha moments but lots of "what?" reactions after "solving" them.

However, this remaster's commercial success still makes me glad that adventure genre is thriving and has evolved, so we can have various sub-genres in adventure games to choose from. Here are some of my favorites: What Remains of Edith Finch, INSIDE, Danganronpa, Unavowed.
