Ori's gender is undefined. It is up to you if you call Ori he or she.

Main game in english explicitely avoids stating ("Her misguided will" refers to Kuro).

German translation refers to "the orphan" as she, but that's probably since that language has genders on every noun.

Dev team officially said it's up to interpretation. Some devs publicly say he, some dev's publicly say she. Microsoft's descriptions used he early on.

You can always use "them" for a gender-neutral pronoun. Personally, I like to think of Ori as 'she'.

wasnt microsoft just giving the money and moonstudio did all the work?

and also that thing with one life mode wasnt that of a big spoiler becouse you can die already in the beginning by running to the right :3

Yeah, MS was just the money. But in some of their pre-release mentions of the game and marketing MS did occasionally used the word "he." Whether the initial plan was for a male but changed later, or more likely that it was just MS's marketing arm's false assumptions for whatever reason (habit, laziness, assumptions concerning target audience, felt the word flowed better in the blurbs, the topic never came up by then, etc), I wouldn't put too much stock into it.

MS gave some advice during the development. But it was always just advice, not orders. Some of it was subtly great, such as right to left instead of left to right for intro (as evidenced by the TGS trailer, left to right was the original build).

But Moon was never obligated to actually follow up on the advice. Sometimes they chose to keep their original design and not follow the advice as the case was with the ending which MS suggested would make Kuro feel like the hero instead of the player feel like the hero..
