DualVerse86 – Demo V3 Update is Live

The new version of the demo is now available.

This update focuses on one goal: making the game clearer, smoother, and more satisfying to play.

Improved Clarity

Fully redesigned UI for better readability
New level selection screen
Improved tutorial with clearer guidance

Better Gameplay Feel

Movement and control have been refined to feel more responsive.

Smoother wall jump
Faster and more consistent respawn system
Improved death handling
Camera reworked to better anticipate falls and forward movement

New Progression System

The progression has been redesigned to be more engaging and rewarding.

Unlock levels as you progress
Collect floppy disks
Earn medals on each level

New Intro

A short introduction scene has been added to set the tone of the experience.

UI Improvements

Criticism

Fix the keyboard controls. There is no reason for a 2D platformer to rely on someone using a controller. Why on earth is the respawn key mapped to R and other keys mapped to B, N, and SPACE? That just creates an awful hand position. I get that R stands for respawn, but then just use WASD. If you aren't sure what a good layout is, then allow remapping. This has been a standard in PC games since AT LEAST the 90s, which I shouldn't need to remind you, your game is. I also found a level geometry issue in the ...

A new update for the DualVerse86 demo is now live.

This update focuses on improving the first player experience with:

A clearer and more readable tutorial
Improvements to Level 4 for better flow and balance
A redesigned end screen for better clarity

bit of feedback

The outlines showing where solid tiles are in the other dimension is a good idea, but there also needs to be some graphical difference for tiles that are in both dimensions. Maybe they could be purple? Also, I noticed that there wasn't always an oultine square for every corresponding solid tile. It'd be a good idea to be consistent with that, especially in the full game where levels would theoretically be harder and/or more complicated....
