You took away clash and siege to add one new game mode. Why not just keep them both and add slash as one more.

Because that would further dilute the matchmaking pool more than it already is. And Clash and Siege already had the lowest player pools of them all.

What would make me come back to Smite is making players play the corresponding god role to their lane. I hate seeing Hunters in the Solo lanes, Mages as supports, or Guardians as Junglers.

The idea of the new mode was exactly to merge the population of those two queues, as they were both suffering from low player count.

They don't have an infinite amount of players, much to the contrary. They can't keep adding more modes and dividing the queues further.
