I am a beginner, any tips?
The thing is, I just started Smite, and there is a lot more behind the game than just button-mashing, so... any tips?
Here are my questions:
- Which gods should I get?
- Which items are good to get at the beginning of the game? (And for which class?)
-When should I use what kind of attacks? (Offensive, defensive)
- Which gods are the best to master at an early phase of the game?

Thanks so much!:steamhappy:

All of these are probably pretty obvious for expert players:steamfacepalm:, but as I already said, I just started playing, so please don't hate... thanks.

You can always give me extra tips that don't answer my questions, any advice helps:steamhappy:
odd no one responded, well the two main things I find are:
- Have fun.
- Try not to die, more importent then kills (to my knowledge).

Keep in mind you can rent gods for only 300 favour, also you can try them for free in practice jungle (just to see range, what abilities actually are etc).

Personally I suggest trying ymir, you start with him so he's always avaliable, his a guardian so if you build tanky items (which you should) he will not die to just one damage burst.
Also he helps teach teamplay because he sets kills up more so then getting them (but he can do good damage anyway!)

But really any god you like the sound of should be good, some will be harder to get used to, I personally struggle with Bellona, Freya, Ravana and a lot of the hunters.
I am not trying to say stick to one or two gods however, you will miss out on a lot that way.

And lastly until you get used to what stat does what and what it means you can just build from the recommanded tab, you will learn as you go along!
(ie if a body armor is under recommanded, if you press it you can see the other version for most of them, this can help you see if different similar items would help you out).

P.S. I suggest to try arena, its a lot simpler then conquest so people tend to take it less seriously, so your less likely to have people getting mad (if they do don't let it get to you! There is a mute function ingame).
Thank you so much for this! Even though I am replying really late, thanks! I have been playing Smite for over 100 hours now, so I think I keep getting better, practice makes perfect, right? I love the beginner gods and Cupid, even though he is not the most powerful god ever, I love playing with him. I like playing with mages and hunters (or Bellona or Ymir). I stick to 1 or 2 gods, but you are right, I should try out new gods, otherwise I will miss out on a lot (designs, playstyles, abilities etc.):steamhappy:
Ymir's Wall of Text.

1) I think this is the most important: Know that this is a game. Play to HAVE FUN.
Of course you get tilted at times but your fundamental goal should be to have fun... too many players forget that
2) Play around with gods, in jungle practice [if you have enough time go v bot/co-op or custom games]
3) God Reveal + Know your Enemy [youtube][even though Weaken believes otherwise can be quite useful [it is for noobs like me]
4) Smitefire has some good guides and god guides
The item guides is good as well
5) COmmunicate with your teammates
[mention if enemy is missing, call roles, support in team fights etc or mention if vvvp]
6) Try to stick to meta.
7) Enjoy breaking the meta. [just because a god is in a particular role[e.g. guardian/assassin] doesn't mean she is restricted to that type
Loki can go solo lane for e.g. inter alia.
8) Unless dead or absolutely free
no need to type in chat[, just use vgs
9) There is no one size fits all guide
Things can be situational, e.g. what if you go arena and other 4 players insta lock as assassin? [happened to me once] (IT WAS AMAZEBALLS FUN)
1 player DC does not mean intentionally afk, but even if it does, you could take it as a challange or f6. There is no shame in f6
remember this is a game. you control the game, do not let it be otherwise
10) join clans, play together , if possible get friends[what are those? some kind of fruit?]. it can be fun
11) if interested in the game[like me] (DON'T!!!!) spend hours on Youtube laughing at Smite videos. E.g. smite office or some other funny versions[max and other youtubers i forgot their names]
12)GET THE INUKA VOICE PACK
13) 13
14) don't mute the game
i mute the music, but others i don't mute. this is important i believe because your skills have sound so even if e.g. loki is not visible in mini map or otherwise, if you have volume on, his ability have a distinct sound
15) VVGF

I just realized these were just random tips ok lol
- Which gods should I get?
As i mentioned play around, don't stick with a god or a role.
there are no 'easy' gods, but there are 'easier' gods. See:Neith. [ask around in-game for advice or in clans, there are helpful people]
- Which items are good to get at the beginning of the game? (And for which class?)
Again situational and depends on gods and role [check smitefire item build guide for more info]
-When should I use what kind of attacks? (Offensive, defensive)
L2P, sorry this wil take practice.
- Which gods are the best to master at an early phase of the game?
I don't understand what this means...which gods are good early game or low level?
Thana if fed well can be devastating.
Neith is easy ish
Zeus?
tbh every god can be played in an epic manner regardless of tier
that goes the other way round as well
exception: sol .-.

I can't re-iterate this enough.

I'd find someone experienced to play with (i.e more experienced than a new player), it'll cut a lot of the learning curve.
it's not that easy... I got some time 'which might seem 'obvious or basic' now but it wasn't then

Know your enemy
E.g. if you have ares/hades get beads
aegis against neith e.g.
Or janus' vortex is dogdeable.
don't move at last/ last 2 ticks of xba's ult to not get stun etc...
you play, converse..and someone might be there to help...
Loads of people. will be understanding
be ready to face backlash if you are in asia.
Lag spikes are common
it goes 500-900
A good game is ~175 for me lol usually averages on 200-250 though eh
When bm'd don't respond; there is a report system. [though im not sure if its effective....
regards to loki
keep your ears open
his dissapear sound is very distinct, there's a mail[ in the tier of nemean lion where you inflict some damage to ~15 distance around you, that shoudl be of help or get aegis, after his stun immediately put it on..
aegis is good for burst gods like pos, hou yi etc
it can work against thana as well[ i think? not sure]
read guides it helps [check smite fire]
i think i repeated myself
sorry.
k.
omg thank you guys so much for replying, again, (like VenalVena said) it's about fun, so I am trying to have as much fun as possible, which is impossible if you're not good at the game. I have been experimenting a lot with the game lately, trying out A LOT of new gods, trying out new playstyles etc. I have also been getting help from experienced players and it has all helped, thank you guys for trying to help me, I appreciate that you wanted to help me and actually helped, I am thankful. Good luck and have fun smiting!:steamhappy:
