Oh wait, when I launch the game, the main launcher says it's already installed and not running through steam, any idea how to repair this? I ran the diagnostics tool to see if that will repair. Validating now.

did you have the non steam version? if yes uninstall that one then try it.

first restart the steam launcher i had an issue where it could not verify me (not the most discriptive error) and i just restarted it and everything worked.

I think my main mistake was when I deleted the folder where the game was installed instead of uninstalling it using the uninstall included with the install. I then proceeded to uninstall a game that I already deleted the content for using the uninstall tool in control panel >< so the uninstall tool is gone now but I did run it at one point. I was playing prior to the steam version, yes. (in case you didn't know yet :P)

Smart move, I will do. Most people would dread doing that but I'm grateful to have Verizon FiOS lol So my download is like 10 minutes :P I really appreciate the help by the way!

Hi-Rez include a neat little uninstall tool that is the mother of all uninstall tools located in the program files folder. It uninstalls all Hi-Rez games and assets. I used that tool and it uninstalled all the files for the game, period. (Post uninstalling the steam version, of course) So I uninstalled the game from steam (for like the 5th time during this process, lol) then used that tool and now I'm re-installing the game via steam and hoping that this works out all the kinks.

That fixed it. So it basically had conflicting files that remained from the previous (non-steam) versions of the game. If you follow this guide and happen to have the same issues as I did as well, you can follow not only the Author of this conversations instructions but mine as well in order to resolve this issue. Leave it to Hi-Rez to not post a fix to this issue upon a big release haha. Thanks again for all the help. Add me in game if you'd like UN: L2apture Have fun in game!

How did you go about reinstalling the installhirezservice.exe?

double clicked it. it said this is already installed would you like to uninstall it i said yes then i reinstalled it.
