If you insist on stacking, I would just get the Book of Thoth, then Book of the Dead later on. QuIcker stacks on a short(er) game mode means you'll get more use out of them.
You need penetration, so Obsidian Shard is ok for highly tanky teams.
Spear of the Magus is great if you can keep applying it (might be ok for Zeus).
Spear of Desolation is probably the best choice for him, along with Shoes of the Magi. Both of those should be enough pen for squishy targets. If you want Obsidian Shard as well, then swap the boots for Shoes of focus.
You could also cosider getting Gem of Isolation instead of Warlocks Staff. The slow could be useful if you get a good ultimate off, along with keeping peopel in range of each other for Chain Lightning. Also gives you some health and mana, with decent damage.
Bancrofts might be alright for the extra damage as you lose health, but with the size of the Arena map, you likely wont' get a ton of use from it.
Divine Ruin and Winged Blade are situational items that could be useful on him too.
I would probably go for;
- Shoes of the Magi/Focus
- Chronos Pendant
- Spear of Desolation
- Gem of Isolation
- Obsidian Shard/Bancrofts/Situational
- Rod of Tahuti
