MSVCP140.dll Missing Potential Fix

If your game is failing to start and reports missing MSVCP140.dll, you likely need to install the Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015[www.microsoft.com]. You may want to install both the x86 and x64 versions for posterity.

I worked with a player in Discord having this issue. The redistributable installers were not in the BinariesRedist subdirectory in the game's install location. They likewise weren't installed with the recent game update.

If you're missing MSVCP110.dll, you need Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2012 Update 4[www.microsoft.com] instead.

Note:I only link to Microsoft download sources. Downloading DLL files from third party sources (i.e. anything other than a domain at or within microsoft dot com) to fix your games puts your computer at risk of executing malicious code. Please be sure to check the domain of URLs in Steam community discussions before clicking them.

@Hashbrownche Please post the exact text of your error message - versions change and a couple of players here have needed slightly different versions in order to fix their game. Also, please be sure to try installing both the 32-bit (x86) and 64-bit versions of the redistributables linked above.

Just used this solution today! I had the 110 file missing and this worked. Although when I went to the link and downloaded both the x86 and x64 version, they only said "repair" and "uninstall" so looks like I had both installed already but needed repairing for some reason.

My situation may be a tad different. I recently got a new hard drive and had smite downloaded to another drive. It wasn't running from the existing drive so I uninstalled smite and reinstalled onto the new drive.

I now have both the 2012 and 2015 version, but it's looking for the version no longer available. Any idea?

The fix to my issue above was resolved by:

Installing the Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package MFC Security Update both x64 and x86:

The install failed due to having it already installed.

Attempted to uninstall but got a Windows Installer Error:
"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable."

Download the Windows Installer Troubleshooter from Microsoft:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed-or-removed-cca7d1b6-65a9-3d98-426b-e9f927e1eb4d

Click Uninstall from the prompt after running. Find the two existing 2010 packages. They should uninstall nicely.

Re-run the installers for the x86 and x64 packages. Click repair when prompted.
