SMITE
Learning the God Builder screen
Good afternoon, Smiters.
I want to at least try to use the God Builder screen, rather than letting Smite decide what are the best items to have me use (which, I'm assuming, has its limits). The problem is, in the God Builder screen, in the Custom section has the categories "Starter, Core, Damage, Defensive, Relic and Consumable." I can't find ANYBODY on Youtube or through Google who explains what do do with each of these things. All I ever read/hear is, "Equip these items," followed by pictures of the items. And nobody ever recommends enough items to fill every slot in every category. I'll see, maybe, six pictures tops. So I don't know if they're entirely ignoring categories, or only putting, say, one item in each category.
It's almost like the tutorials are being made under the assumption that you already understand the God Builder screen, and you're just being told which items to put in the places you already know to fill.
So does anybody want to help a Smiter out and give an (pun intended) honest-to-god(dess) tutorial on what to do with the God Builder screen? I'm not asking for a 30 paragraph essay. Just try to explain yourself as quickly as possible. I don't need you to tell me the best items to put in every last one of Olorun's (the god I'm using) slots. I just want the general gist of how the God Builder page even works in the first place.
If you've got a hyperlink or a Google search term I should type in that'll save you the trouble, then by all means, save yourself the trouble.
My thanks in advance.

The god builder has more items you can assign than you can equip during a match. It is set up that way so that you can kinda toss in a few items for each category so that you can react to different situations.

The "guides" about equip these items or those items. I kind of avoid those, because a lot of stuff is situational. You're not really going to find a single build you can just do over and over and over.

You wouldn't build the same as a tank if it's an entire team of phys as you would if it was a mixed bag.. God builder lets you quickly have different items you choose available instead of having to search the store in match. Which honestly is just what I tend to do. I use the skill builder I don't bother setting up the item portion of god builder.

Thank you, the Grimm Reefer. That helps immensely.
review smite guru . You can build best when you find items that work with your God. Artemis for example slows people down which is a crowd control affect. Buying Runebreaking Hammer would would amplify her slowdown (Your next successful Hard CC on an enemy god creates a 30 unit shockwave around them. Enemies hit by the shockwave deal 15% less damage and take 15% more damage for 3s. This can only occur once every 15s.) Also what item do you think would work early off of artemis's ability to increase attack speed? Oloron, if you build him as a healer, a good item would be breastplate of regrowth (After healing yourself from an ability, you gain 20% Movement Speed, 15 Physical Power, and 30 Magical Power for 4 seconds. This effect can only occur once every 10 seconds. ) after all he is slow. If you play magic the gathering, the idea of stacking items off of abilities helps

Note, the slow is a soft cc. Hard cc would be her root/cripple and ult. Runeforged/Runebreaking Hammer would work on der 1 and 4, not on her 3.

Good afternoon, Glory to you and your House, and Echo NO Aim.
Thanks for the contributions. Anything's helpful.
GtyayH, I tried Smite Guru before, and ran into that problem of "here are a bunch of pictures of items, with no explanation of what to do with them." But maybe I just need to go through each guide on the site until I find someone who understands my noobness.
Best to you and your loved ones.
