Skins are cosmetic stuff you have to pay real money but it gives nothing more. Just some skins look cool nothing else.
It's not more pay 2 win than LoL. You can unlock god faster but nothing more. Is it P2W? Not really as you can unlock them all just playing the game. And those who decides to pay dont get anything that makes their gods better than yours.
Every week or two they change rotation, so you'll get another 6 free - meaning you can play 12 Gods for free at no cost, but 6 of them will change every so often.
There is a 'tier' of Gods in the game (Google SMITE Tier list) but that's regarding a professional level. In regarding casual level, every God is as viable as the next one, some may be a little more than others - and it is a skill based game, so if you mesh well with a God you can do incredible with it. If you buy something just because it's deemed "OP (Overpowered)", you can find yourself falling short and wondering why it was said to be OP in the first place.
I wouldn't necessarily say it's pay to win, moreso as it's "Pay to Enjoy Fully" because you'll find pretty much everyone who plays the game doesn't enjoy playing the same few Gods match after match after match, they like to spice it up every match and be something else each time. If you only have 12 out of the 70 Gods, you can imagine the limitations you're given. Not to mention if you enjoy a specific God who is currently in rotation, after a week or two you'll have to buy the God.
The game has a currency system known as 'favor', you earn it through a variety of means and assuming you were playing Arena (Shortest game mode) and winning constantly throughout the day, you could probably get enough favor to buy a God after 3 days - but I mean *constantly*, so you're looking about a week or two if you want to buy a God with favor. That favor could also have been better spent on recolors (Some look good, some do not; Also some avatars cost favor)
Overall no, this game is not pay to win. However what you're best to do is play the game, give it a week and if you enjoy playing it then definitely get the God pack because it's worth 30$ (Even better, 20$ on special right now) to have that flexibility to play whatever you want, and you'll quickly find the pool of Gods you'll love to play as opposed to being denied playing them just because you don't want to sink a lot of time into the game.
ignore the noob, nothing unbalanced.
guy doesnt like xing tiang (new god). they always get nerfed after an update.
guess he is lacking skill
You can use ingame currency to buy gods, recolour skins, mastery skins (blue/gold, black/gold or blue/diamond) or rent gods. The renting period can be chosen to be 1 match, 1 day, 3 days and 7 days (own all gods, so not 100 % sure). You have 5 gods that are always free permanently and 5 gods on rotation (rotation changes each patch).
The ultimate god pack allows you to get all gods ever (current and future ones) for a one time fee of 30 dollars/23 euro (see this Valve?). A very nice offer if you just want to enjoy the game without bothering to grind.
* Gods already have voices for actions and taunt, joke and laugh. The game has a system called VGS. Basically you can issue many commands using shotcut keys such as VR3 (enemies missing right!), it will show up in chat and play a voice that can be heard by your intire team (incase they don't notice). With the voice pack, that voice is changed to the gods (many skins also have their own voice pack). You unlock the voice pack once per god and it will cover the god and its skins.
I recommend learing the VGS system, it really helps with communication and almost everyone uses it later on. The best ones to remember is VFF (enemies missing), VTT (enemies have returned), VRR (Retreat) and VVB (Be right back). VVGL (good luck) and VVGF (have fun) are also nice to use in the begginning and VVGG (Good game) at the end (mostly only used when winning xD).
I won't comment on Poker as i don't know anything about it.
