That's what I assumed as well. Whenever a f2p game pops up on Steam that wasn't originally released on Steam or released on Steam at the same time as launch(like an mmo for instance having a Steam version at launch as well as their owner launcher) I go along the lines that they need a quick boost of cash and influx of players no matter how temporary.
And there's plenty of proof to back that up. Many, especially older, f2p games that pop up on Steam were on their last leg with a dwindling player base so you throw in a few thousand possibly 10k+ players who MIGHT spend some money. Then the game dies on Steam after 3 or 4 months and the devs seemingly disappear.
I mean, they're hosting a World Championship at this point, it's virtually guaranteed it'll be around this time next year.
He's a moderator on the official SMITE forums and here. It's a legitimate question, but seriously why all the threads?
Freedom of Speech - This doesn't apply to non-government entities. Invalid argument. Don't start that ♥♥♥♥ here.
Global agenda is open. Tribes Ascend is being updated with a patch after a 2 year development freeze. It's set to go live on the beta in the next few days.
Paladins is a competitor to Blizzard's new title. It has its own team.
HiRez is currently actively supporting their mainstream game, SMITE. Due to the SUCCESS of smite they partitioned a team to go back to Tribes: Ascend. It's one of the top 10 games on Xbox and is showing continued success on PC.
Global Agenda 2 is still in silent development.
Another fact, SMITE had the largest record-breaking tournament prize pool for a moba.
Seriously dude? First of all, he wasn't whining. He asked a legit question, "what the hell is with the deal of all thse Smite is gonna die threads?". He asked it because these forums have been full of people either acting like Hi-Rez is running a scam on people or calling anyone who plays SMITE stupid because the game will get dropped like Tribs and GA did.
Second, mods can post in any freaking thread they want to. They are not limited to only posting in realtion to doing their jobs, like banning someone. In fact they are likely not even allowed to post about banning people since bans are usually kept private.
Also, no one ever said you didn't have a right to ask your question, but other people have a right to question why you are asking it in the first place. Tribes and GA never turned a profit, SMITE did and continues to do so to this day. The two situations are completly different and you're a fool to expect any developer to continue supporting a game that doesn't make any money.
You should lock them all.
Just ask DC how their MOBA is doing.
Big difference is the DC MOBA and DC Universe Online had already lost almost entire player base before releasing via STEAM. But SMITE on the other hand has never stopped growing and just passed the 10 million player mark last month.
