Is Smite a good alternative to LoL?

I am thinking about starting with Smite as an alternative for playing league.
Is it hard to get into the game? And what are the best roles for newbies here? :D

never played LoL cuz I dont play indie isometric games but the answer is no. This game is barely fun at the best of times. Youll end up with a noob or someone that genuinely has no business playing a MP game despite being 1000+hrs in. The devs care more about adding 547654376574356 gay flags (MIND YOU IM BI), instead of balancing the game, super annoying battlepass pop up every single time youre trying to que, no one knows how to tank or heal so good luck with that too. Plus ALOT of the gods have been trash for years and they do nothing about it so just hope yours dont get nerfed or you literally wont play them for years. I only still play cuz Im good and I get to make annoying little kids cry when I penta kill them as Zeus

Been playing smite for years and LoL before smite (love both games), to me smite is like the obvious successor, kinda like going from 2d mario to 3d crash bandicoot, you get that same feeling. Since i started playing smite i never went back to LoL, and the times i did i found LoL to be incredible outdated and slow when compared to smite.
If you want to get a clear picture of what you will get into check out my smite review, i think that it's pretty impartial and honest.
To synthesize my opinion, i don't think smite is a good alternative, it's a successor. Next step will be VR mobas or the matrix (if somehow mobas find a way to stay profitable.)
As an extra but important point Hi-Rez is an AMERICAN company always giving opportunity to young developers, Riot is LITERALLY 100% owned by Tencent which has been proven many times to have strong ties with the CCP.

we HAD VR Moba but no one played it. I still own it, Megalith. I blame Facebook and their ♥♥♥♥♥♥ walled garden to VR, like if you own a PC why would you ever buy a game on occulus store? Once Valve gets off its butt and actually makes a stand alone VR unit instead of wasting money trying to make a switch killer , maybe someone will give it another shot, but yea, I cant play thos boomer isometric games, 3D> 2D anyday

Anything VR sounds amazing, hopefully someone tries to make another VR one though I doubt it would be financially viable for at least the next 5+ years, the community is too small and spends too much time multiplayer wise playing the same few games VRChat, Pop1 and Pavlov.

I hae no idea what bubble this guy is in but you have to be kidding if you think a MOBA would survive if it came out in VR right now. Their has been attempts at paladins/overwatch like games which has flopped massively and with MOBA's having some similarities it just wouldn't handle it especially matchmaking wise ohh boy that'll be a one and done for anyone not playing with friends.

TBH, no. The reason being is cause they're almost totally different games - in a way. Comparing LoL to DOTA is more like it. 3rd-person MOBAs are kinda their own thing IMO, and this is mostly cause of the way they're played: Aiming, Dodging, Area targeting, Lack of overall vision, Targeting affects being kinda wonky, Etc, - it all adds up to a near-completely different experience.

In my mind, it would be better to compare Smite to Paragon of old - or any of the other three remakes on the way. And in so doing, it's rather safe to say that Smite is a budget Paragon. But that's going off topic I guess.

TL;DR: No, but it's free, so no harm in trying it out. Just remember it's Hi-Rez. So.... Yah know.
