Cpu usage at 100% while in game (HELP NEEDED)

Yeah well pretty much my pc crashed twice for some reason and on the third time i have noticed that smite is for some reason running at 100% of my cpu usage why is that?
i am currently running the integrity of the files maybe theres a corrupted file but this shouldnt be possible.

Help needed as i just formatted and cleaned my hardware 2 days ago this shouldnt be happening.

there is common virus that cause 100% cpu make sure to scan your pc and test the cpu in other games , also make sure to check does it get 100 cpu when your idle on pc like fans get noisy or not

I have tested other games and their usage wouldnt exeed 20 % it was just with a smite , a google search showed me that some others playing smite happened to them aswell a few years ago. its really weird for it to happen now on a fresh install.
Currently reinstalling the game and will test it again cause running the file intergrity didnt fix the problem.

So i have googled Smite cpu usage and have found many threads about people having the same problem, and as i mentioned i just formatted my pc. When i run WoW it only has like 18% of the CPU so it doesnt make sense for smite to hog so much
And i dont want to make a ticket to hi rez cause they will reply in 2 weeks so its pretty pointless

I remember that my old virus scanner was the culprit, every time i launched certain games it would just go full 100% disc and cpu usage for some unknown reason. When i realized that my virus scanner provided pretty much no extra protection over the standard windows one except the protection of troglodytes clicking any unknown link possible, i just uninstalled that hot garbage and had no more issues.

I am not using any antivirus, i only have the windows defender aswell. I had kaspersky years ago and i had that exact issue.

Make sure you are not using your onboard GPU you can switch this at Nvidia Control Panel.

Also this game is hella old and not very optimized.

Yeah but like 3 days ago pre- format it was running fine with no issues whatsoever, tried a few more games and none exceed 20% cpu usage except Fault ( ex paragon) which was at 45%.

Also how can i do what you said above? the switching of the gpu i mean

Right click on the desktop and you should see an Nvidia control panel option. Make sure you also download up to date drivers.

Oh ya for antivirus and spyware removal follow this (15+ years tech experience normally charge $120+ for this):


First download COMBOFIX (you may have to disable antivirus for this one or run in windows safe mode)

ONLY FOR Windows XP/Vista/7/8

Third get a free antivirus, I would recommend AVAST (do full bootscan after updating the virus definitions this will get rid of rootkits):

Hey in the global setting i dont have an option for "Preffered high graphics processor" there is only Preffered higher refresh rate.

I have windows 10, so i cant use those softwares above? cause you specified XP /7/8

Lmao i ran that game with i7 3770Ks integrated gpu at 1080p 60fps. so not that bad.

Fastest fix is to enable Vsync or fps limiter.
