SMITE
Cannot Play Game (WINDOWS 10)
I installed the game and signed into the launcher very easily, but when the game starts to load it shows a picture (one that i assume that everyone sees when starting up the game), but after a minute or so the whole screen goes white, and i waited for somethign to happen for about 20 minutes but nothing happened. I opened task manager to close it, when i do a windows pops up saying
"Failed to create D3D9 Device! This can happen if the desktop is locked. Exiting..."

not sure how to "unlock" the desktop, if that is even something possible. plz help.

You are trying to run the game in a resolution your hardware does not support.
You will need to set the resolution to something your PC can use.
Go to C:\Users\Username_of_PC\Documents\My Games\Smite\BattleGame\Config and
Open BattleSystemSettings with Wordpad or notepad.

Edit the:
ResX=XXXXX
ResY=XXXXX

And change it to
ResX=800
ResY=600

Save the file and launch the game.
You should now be able to load up smite and change any video settings you would like as well as the resolution to something your monitor supports.

What appears to be happening to you and OP is that smite can't properly read your monitor's native resolution (like Zeriu said above). In smite launcher press the cog in the left bottom corner -> optional game command line parameters -> type -windowed there. Then launch the game and change resolution in settings. And don't forget to remove the -windowed launch option afterwards.
