This system may encourage smurfing, but the effectiveness of an individual smurf drops precipitously between level 15-20. One comparitively excellent player in any given match will always have a difficult time winning/carrying a game if the enemy team is even remotely coordinated, and their own teammates are braindead.
Two nights ago I faced a player who had a 3,400 SmiteGuru Score. He had played thousands of casual Conquest games (~60% WR) and was Plat 1 in Ranked. Though no members of our team were nearly this good (and it showed), we did not have the braindead players he had. We were able to focus him...even great players cannot 1 v 4/5 without some bit of support.
This is the life of a smurf, too. Smurfs carry games early on by exploiting general game knowledge, but cannot pull the same tricks as their win rate balloons to unsustainable levels. Smite punishes excellent players by trying to bring everyone to the happy 50% WR. That's why around Level 15 you start needing to party up to keep the wins flowing.
Facing a smurf sucks as a new player, but it's nowehere near as frustrating as smurfing an account all the way to Level 30. I've seen some real messed up ♥♥♥♥, man.
When I see a player make a mistake, I tell them what to do since im better.
I am also open to suggestions in game if I myself make a mistake but that rarely happens since most of the time, my team mates are major ass at the game :/
3.15 kills me on the inside
Current ban system lets you be toxic forever til its a habit then boom 3day. That habit needs to be cut off
Chat bans work.
3 days piss people off, paying customers. Customers who will never spend another dime on a Hi Rez product ever again, also who have behaved themselves since their 3 day.
3 days dont work when you realize you can log in 30 sec later on same steam account just new smite account.
You kill new players interest in the game where instead of up matchi making you, it brings all your buddies down into baby tiers with your new smurf account. Where you proceed to roflstomp nubs 50-1
Making smurfs is fun!
Unfortunately the game matchmaking works like this...
1) You start playing Smite and, like most players, are completely terrible. You have little understanding of RPG statistics, have never seen a League/DotA/Smite game in your life, and may even be relatively new to video games in general. Thus, you are bad and lose a lot of games. The matchmaker sees how bad you are and places you with other awful players. This stews a nice poop soup of awfulness, where your games are filled with feeders, trolls, ragers, DCs. In this situation you can either do everything in your power to improve game knowledge/skill and learn to carry games (unlikely), or you remain a bad player and/or quit the game.
2) You are either a smurf or a relatively gifted new player. You either bring a veteran's knowledge to the game, or the complex nature of the game just makes sense. You win an overwhelming majority (70%+) of your games, and you're carrying. Could not be easier! At approximately Level 15, the matchmaker sees your success and, instead of matching you gainst other Level 15-25 players with excellent win rates (logical), decides you will face 3-5 Level 30 Gold/Plat players who sport a 57% win rate across 1,900 games, and have every god mastered. Of course, that's just their team. Your team features yourself (inflated MMR), a Level 30 Bronze who thinks they are godmode (but you're still better than), two newer players who innocently don't know the proper camp start (let's do backs AFTER Red Buff!), and a DC who either does not connect at all, or gives up First Blood and leaves. You are properly ♥♥♥♥♥♥. You start losing 70% of your games until around Levels 25-30, when things balance out a bit.
Thanks matchmaking!
