I think voice > skin, so if you want to buy something you should first focus on the voice.
Which skin do you want to buy ?
I don't know how many of those skins are also directly purchasable. I recall reading that they wanted to allow more direct purchasing, but I've not seen much evidence of it since.
As LeBub said, voice packs are better whilst loot boxes are a thing.
1 good thing about them though, is that there are no duplicates other than the various boosters you can get from them. So no duplicate skins, emotes, or voice packs, unlike some other games.
not to say there are not games that do it worse but there are certaintly Many that do it way better; they just changed the scam to trick people with low iq / dumb guards not improved it.
To be clear, I don't mean exclusive event skins, every game has that and although I don't like it, I understand it. But to spend $10 to buy a box and have a what? 1/755 chance of getting it from some underworld box? That is literal ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ insanity.
So not only did I not get the skin that I did want, but it was almost like they talked themselves out of a sale on even more stuff.
I really thought I had to be missing something there but I guess not
Just a result of whales and slowly dwindling population. No excuses for it though.
But that is what I mean, my other friend joined us just tonight and he litearlly saw that and said "♥♥♥♥ this ♥♥♥♥". How do you attract new people to buy product if you make it so scummy? I buy stuff because I want to support the game I play. Sure, I'll play and enjoy the free game but I am not investing $10 a loot box to get a skin lol.
Also you have to buy gems to buy things in the game, and when buying gems the game will use Steams interface to buy them so the prices will be converted into your countries currency thanks to Steam.
I didn't say it was better than other games. Just that unlike other games you don't get duplicates.
It's still a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ practice, and is recognised as gambling in various places.
Some people have litteraly payed 10,000+$ do you know how many customers it would take to spend that much especially if you take into account many of them wouldn't spend 1$ ?
Kind of why loot boxes and the like blew up to be massive and why Smite became more scummy.
(no joke or sarcasm there are people that have spent 10k on Smite ... they get addicted to spending and feel the need to get every new skin and every new skin therefore is thrown in a chest of 100+trash so they will have to buy a ton unless they godly lucky but chances are they least will have to buy 10 at max least and this is to those that own everything from non-stop buying those that rarely buy likely will have to buy 50+).
I think you're quotes broke there.
I only say it's recognised as gambling in most places, because there are quite a few that don't see it as that legally.
They didn't have those two things for years so it's better now but still scummy as hell. My advice is don't buy skins for a god unless you like they and actually do well with the god otherwise the skin will just collect dust. And I believe they do have a sale where gems price is less and they make alot of non direct purchase limited time skins buyable for direct purchase but still at a premium.
