how can you tell if someone is speed hacking?
just had a game where the enemy neith would lag at the most convenient of times, though it did appear to be random. and that got me wondering. How can i tell if someone is speed hacking?

If they're moving at unrealistic speeds. Hackers are never really... Subtle.

I've only encountered one hacker, being a speed hacker, in my 4000+ hours of SMITE, and that was many years ago. They are extremely rare. It was very clear they were hacking, because they could run from their base to mine in mere seconds.

Sometimes you may think they're hacking but in most cases, it is either movement speed buffs or really bad lag. Hi-Rez also uses some anti-cheat program on their games nowadays so chances are too slim to count on.

I also have 4K hours and have seen 1 speed hacker. It was extremely obvious because it was a fluid movement, no leaping or lagging or rubber banding. This guy was just FAST, I mean like twice as fast as geb roll. He played gods like khepri and pulled people across the map...

But I also have horrible internet, and sometimes it looks like im speed hacking. Ive had really convenient lag that boosts me away from people, or towards them. It usually looks glitchy and rubber bandy and is more of a detriment than a positive. Like teleporting into abilities... into tower... etc.

So if they dont look glitchy or laggy and are going FAST (with no reason) then they might be hacking. Obv dont accuse mercury for being too fast... or thana going towards a kill, or chronos. Yeah... they will be fast, you just gotta know how fast they should be going.

Im like Zoey.

4000+ hours as well, only seen 2 speedhackers and that was over 3 years back, thing is the laggy people jump around and rubber band, speed hackers are fast but they move alot smoother when doing it... had a guy in conquest that ran from his base to ours right past us at warp speed, thing is... NO teleporting, he litterally zoomed past multipal times, you could track him with your eyes the entire time as he went past, no break in the movement at all.

I myself suffer from the 'you where speed hacking' accusations from time to time, since for me my normal ping is 230-250 to NA servers, and ping higher than 250 and i start to rubber band... if it hits 300+ (which it can from time to time) I will rubber band around every few seconds the entire match it sure as hell doesnt give me an advantage given its great moving forward a little towards the enemy only to have myself catapulted into their front line or under their tower or going to use an ability and i rubber band as i click and end up firing it meters to the left or right of them, but then you get those rare moments where it happens JUST as your about to die and it saves you and your like 'I bet he calls hacks on that'...

Also had a friend who for a long time had crap connections to smite and most games in general (worse than id ever have) and he was REALLY bad rubber banding in ALL of his matchs, in Arena he'd lag out and start sliding next second he'd pop up in the enemy fountain and robotic swearing would ensue from Discord lol. Eventually he got it sorted but he himself was an American player and every match someone would say 'see that guy speed hacking?' even though he'd often be well above 10+ deaths with few if any kills.

The guys you have to watch for are the ones that appear smooth and normal the entire time, but every time you try and land a range ability they rubber band out of it. Ive seen a few like that the last year or two, you'll throw out an ability right on em its about to hit and they suddenly 'pop' out of it at the last second every time... could be lag but if they arent 'pop'ing around at any other time then yeah it gets suspect.

Those 2 guys i saw hacking all those years back, both got banned not to long afterwards so Hirez will find em.
